Travel: Hotel Russell, London

Hotel Russell is a luxury hotel situated just a few minutes walk from Euston station and the British Museum. It is located amongst the beautiful and green Russell Square. The hotel is the perfect base for a weekend out in Central London. I stayed here whilst in London for LondonEdge.

The staff give this hotel the personal touch. They were attentive courteous and very good at their job. They gave focused attention which is unusual for a busy central London hotel.

The opulence begins before you even enter the building. This building is steeped in history and the entrance is magnificent – when you think of a luxury hotel this is exactly what you’d envision. Long sweeping staircases, marble effect surfaces, high ceilings, pillars with gold detailing and exquisite elaborate light fittings. This building is definitely inspired by the past but in a contemporary way that stops the hotel looking dating.

It may be inspired by the past but its facilities are firmly rooted in the now. Wi-fi in every room, room service, concierge, opulent dining room, flat screen tv and the latest movies.

The rooms themselves are well laid out, with plenty of space and many possess features common in the time period the building was built. They are elegantly furnished with a simple chic decor.

Bathroom facilities vary from room to room with some rooms having huge roll top baths and others having a more modern look.

This hotel offers everything you could need for a short stay in London. It is right next to the tube for easy travel, is surrounded by great places to eat, is minutes away from Oxford Street, Camden, Soho and Covent Garden and rooms are comfy, relaxing and well equipped. But the best part about the Hotel Russell is its staff. They are attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the hotel and the area and they genuinely seem to enjoy their job.

The in house restaurant is called Tempus and the venue itself is exquisite. It looks very opulent with its period futures and almost all white colour scheme.

The menu on offer includes a range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes so there really is something for everyone. there’s a focus on quality and a twist on the classics. Some dishes can be ordered for delivery to your room.

The in-house restaurant is a place where the surroundings are as important as the food, and the food itself lands on the table in an appropriate amount of time, no huge waits here.
