WRIGHTWOOD — San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said deputies are searching for a 12-year-old boy who went missing Thursday morning after missing his school bus. Authorities said Steven Papke, 12, of Wrightwood, was supposed to catch the bus to his junior high in Phelan, but he missed the bus. Sheriff’s officials said his family called at 10:15 a.m. to report Steven was missing. He was last seen at approximately 9 a.m. in the 1200 block of Evergreen Street. “He has no history of running away, nothing like that,” Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said. Steven is described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with blonde hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red flannel shirt and black pants. He should be carrying a black and orange backpack. Search and rescue teams, the sheriff’s helicopter and the department’s bloodhound team were actively searching for the boy Thursday afternoon.
