Fave Red Lippy | Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Palpitante

What a difference a year makes; towards the end of 2013, I dabbled in darker lips, in 2014 I bought my first red and by 2015, I have a small collection of deep hues and have finally found my favourite in the form of the Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in 102, Palpitante.

I first discovered Palpitante when Mr WLL took me along to the Chanel counter in House of Fraser for a little Christmas shopping and I just knew that I had to pick out a red lipstick. The limited edition Christmas red had, understandably, sold out and so I asked the advice of the SA as to what she would recommend for me. She got it spot on.

Palpitante is from the Luminous Intense Lip Colour line of Rouge Allure lipsticks and in my opinion, it is one of Chanel's most unusual reds thanks to its raspberry colour and hydrating yet slightly waxy texture.

When viewed in the bullet and swatched alone, this lipstick appears to be a very true red however when swatched alongside other red lipsticks, the more pinkier tones in the lipstick become much more apparent. However, the true raspberry tone of this lipstick can only be viewed on the lips and I do think that this is one of those lipsticks that would look ever so slightly different on each person who wears it.

This Rouge Allure lipstick applies smoothly, building up to a full, even colour in a couple of swipes. Palpitante looks opaque with a slightly glossy finish, no shimmer, just a healthy sheen that gives a fullness to the lips.

While effortless to apply, this is a lipstick that you would need to apply in front of a mirror thanks to its deep raspberry colour.

Every time that I wear this lipstick, I am impressed by its longevity. It isn't the most long lasting lipstick I have ever worn but it does wear incredible well and lasts a long time on the lips compared to other Chanel lipstick I have tried, even through eating and drinking. It is a lipstick that is very comfortable to wear and thanks to its glossy finish, if you're someone who loves the look of a lipstick and gloss combo but hates the stickiness that is often associated with lip glosses, then this is a great option for you.

The Rouge Allure Lipsticks are arguably the most luxuriously packaged lipsticks from Chanel with their one click opening by pushing down the gold lipstick casing inside the black lacquered outer. If you're looking for a little gift of something special for someone then you couldn't go wrong with a Chanel lipstick; they really are a treat.

After opening this lipstick on Christmas Day, I have enjoyed wearing it so frequently, especially on our trip to Oxford between Christmas and New Year. It is a shade that is equally suited to the day time as well as the evening and the longevity means that I can go out for dinner without worrying that I'll end up with lipstick all over my face!

Palpitante has such an amazing formula that doesn't bleed and feels luxurious to apply and very comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend it.

If you're looking for a lip liner to accompany this lipstick then the shade that I would recommend is Framboise which is also from Chanel. I have this lip liner myself and will be reviewing it soon but in terms of colour, it is the ideal match for this lipstick. From my first impressions, I can say that it is fabulous, very comfortable to wear and effective at helping lipstick to last longer.

Buy it from Selfridges, Boots, Debenhams and House of Fraser (although I couldn't find this particular shade online at HoF, it is definitely in store as that is where I purchased mine).

What is your favourite Chanel lipstick? Do you love luxurious make up or prefer to find a dupe from the drugstore?
