Glowing Skin Rosy Red Daytime Make Up & Reviews

Most mornings I tend to go to the health club for a fitness class which takes up a chunk of my day and by the time I get out, I often find that I'm in a rush to meet my friends, get to my next appointment or run errands. As I've been chilling out in the sauna a lot recently and really concentrating on my skincare routine including using the new Witch Overnight Clearing Serum which is AMAZING, I've found that my skin is looking pretty clear and because of that, I haven't felt the need to jump straight to my makeup bag to pile on a heavy base.

Sometimes I just don't have the time, the need or the inclination for a full face of makeup but sometimes it is nice to have a light layer on when you're going out and you wanna look cute!

This is the light makeup look that I have been wearing recently. It gives the skin an illuminated, glowing look with a rosy red touch. It is perfect for everyday wear, going to work or college and I would say that it is ideal for a daytime Valentine's date too as it isn't a heavy look.

Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes*
To start off, straight after my skincare routine, I applied the Kiko Skin Trainer Eyes to the eye contour. This is a serum that is designed to help to combat puffiness and dark circles around the eyes and I have to say that it is great for puffy eyes.

The metal applicator tip has an amazing lasting cooling effect that is particularly handy for using first thing on a morning when my eyes are carrying more bags than Tesco home delivery. I don't find that it makes too much of a difference to my dark circles but it works wonders on my puffy eye bags first thing on a morning so if that's something you suffer from too then I'd suggest checking it out. Balance Me BB Natural Perfection with SPF25*
Then onto my base and I used the Balance Me BB Natural Perfection which is perfect for daytime use because it has an SPF of 25 which contains a natural titanium dioxide based sun filter to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB sun rays.

I apply this using a brush but it applies equally as beautifully with the fingers which is great when you're on the go. The mineral based tint contains lots of hi tech and naturally active ingredients chosen to enhance the activity of the sun filter in the formula and to boost the wearers complexion. There's Abyssinian and rosehip oils in there along with antioxidant rich collagen and elastin boosting blackberry leaf extract which helps to firm and smooth the skins surface as well as spruce knot, lotus flower and violet seed extract which help to even out the skin tone by calming redness in the skin.

To top it off there's the purest grade of hyaluronic acid in the formula which is fabulous as it helps to bind moisture to the skin which helps it to look plump and youthful. This is definitely the look that I am left with after using this BB cream.

The formula feels very light weight and it does provide a little coverage on the skin, a bit like a tinted moisturiser. It doesn't dry fully on the skin, making this a great option for those with dry skin. If you have oily skin like I do, then it will be fine for four hours but if you're going to be wearing it for any longer then I'd suggested powdering your skin.

I love the way that this BB cream leaves my skin looking radiant, glowing and super healthy thanks to its dewy finish. It seems to make my skin look perfected, even and plumped up.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Next, I move onto lightly contouring my face. As I want to keep this as a light, glowing look, I don't want to add too much of a heavy contour to my face so I take a big fluffy brush and lightly carve out my cheeks and around my hair and jawline using the Hoola bronzer by Benefit. I also used a fluffy blending brush to sweep some of the bronzer through the crease of my eyelid to add some definition there too.

Hoola is the perfect product to use for contouring because it has a slight grey, muddy tone to it and a matte finish. It isn't orange in tone and it doesn't have any shimmer in it which makes it an ideal product to sculpt your face with. Whether you're looking for a sculpted, heavy contour a la Kim Kardashian or you'd prefer some more subtle definition like I have here, Hoola is perfect and the contour powder I would recommend.

St Tropez Gold Skin Illuminator*
To add a highlight to my face, I have been using the St Tropez Skin Illuminator in Gold/Or which has beautiful gold tones. Ideally it is suited to those with yellow or golden undertones but I have quite a lot of pink/cool undertones in my skin and this looks gorgeous on my skin so I'd say that anyone can wear it!

This highlighter is a great product because it can actually be used all over the body to add a subtle shimmer and I find that it looks particularly fabulous when smoothed down the centre of the shins to create the illusion of perfected, slim legs. It looks even better when used over my St Tropez false tan.

I added this shimmery lotion to my cheek bones, brow bones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow and blended it in with my fingers. The texture is quite liquidy so it is easy to blend, leaving the skin with a beautifully illuminated and brightened finish. It makes the skin look radiant, not glittery unlike some highlighters I've tried.

I usually prefer powder products with having oily skin but this one is absolutely brilliant because it dries on the skin in a natural way and it is long lasting.

The St Tropez Gold Skin Illuminator is available from Boots, Feel Unique and Look Fantastic.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner
Moving onto the eyes, I wanted a very subtle and natural look. I already had my crease defined with the Hoola bronzer so for a glowing daytime makeup look, I didn't think that any additional eye shadow was needed.

I swept some of the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner along my upper lashline and into a very subtle wing shape. I find that a light line helps to define the eyes and make them stand out more.

I usually do this with a felt tip liner when creating this look but this was my second time using the gel liner and I really like the look that it creates. I still have a some practising to do but so far, I'm loving it. If you have any high end gel liner recommendations then do leave them in the comments below.

The Maybelline Gel Eye Liner is available from Boots and Superdrug.

Collection Lengthening Mascara*
For mascara, I added a quick layer of the Collection Lengthening Mascara which is the mascara that I have been using during the day for the last month. This has to be my favourite mascara from Collection because it really works to lengthen the lashes and separate them. I love the definition that it gives and I really need a good black mascara as my lashes are so fair.

The wand is rubber/plastic with lots of bristles that grab every lash. It has quite a wet formula compared to the other Collection mascaras that I've tried and I don't think that it is going to dry out very quickly. I find that it is long lasting and doesn't flake, plus it holds a curl well so it gets a thumbs up from me.

The Collection Lengthening Mascara is available from Boots and Superdrug.

Dior Diorblush in Redissimo
The cheeks and the lips are what really gives this look the rosy red appearance.

I have been loving sweeping some of the Dior Diorblush in Redissimo across my cheeks as it is a really flattering shade of red, unlike anything I've seen before. I have a full review of this blush coming up very soon but I am so impressed with it as it is buttery soft and intensely pigmented. Definitely one where a light hand is needed during application.

Dior blushes, including this shade, are available from House of Fraser, Selfridges, Escentual, Feel Unique and John Lewis.

Blistex Lip Brilliance*
To create subtle rosy lips, I added a sweep of the Blistex Lip Brilliance lip balm which is a product that I love to keep in my makeup bag for after the gym as it instantly brightens up my face as well as adding softness to my dry winter lips thanks to the moisturising Vitamin E, Silk Extracts and Grape Seed Oil in the formula.

This lip balm is a great one to use for a daytime Valentine's Day look if you're going out to eat as you wont need to worry about it bleeding or smudging across your face!

The Blistex Lip Brilliance Lip Balm is available from Boots, Superdrug and many independent chemists and leading supermarkets.

So that's my glowing skin makeup look that I've been wearing lately, mostly after the gym. It perks my face up and makes me look put together enough to be able to head into my car and to get on with my day. I love the rosy red hints on my lips and cheeks as they give that pretty out in the cold, English rose look.
