Lady Liberty

If there's one place in the world you can probably get away with a t-shirt as touristy as this one, it's on a ferry to Liberty Island (hot dogs and all). After spotting it in Brandy Melville I knew I had to snap it up for some serious tourist points on our trip, and it made for the perfect pledge to the states (if only Joe had let me buy this to go with it too)! Having never visited the Statue of Liberty before (the last time I had a chance, I was too frightened to hop on the boat across), we decided to brave the choppy seas (read: ten minute gently boat ride) across from Manhattan in order to absorb some history with a certain Ms. Liberty.
Fortunately, we were blessed with beautiful blue skies after a pretty grey start to the morning, so although we forgot our Factor 30- it certainly made for a warm welcome (pun totally intended), and made the queuing for photos all the more worth it and the view over Manhattan even more beautiful (I know, it was a hard feat)! As completely cheesy as it sounds, it felt truly special to be so close to such an iconic part of the cities history and such a special landmark (it was hard to not include about 30 different pictures of the statue from all angles), but I felt very glad that we managed to squeeze this in- after all, what's a city visit without playing tourist?! Plus, with this post going out on the 4th of July- it's pretty suitably timed too- Happy Independence Day!
