Comcept reveals the Wii U box art for Mighty No. 9

Yesterday, the team at Comcept updated their Kickstarter page to let backers know that they finally have a release date planned for Mighty No. 9. The spiritual successor to Mega Man has been in development since early 2013, when Keiji Inafune took to Kickstarter to gather funds for the Mega Man game he wanted to make, but Capcom wouldn’t let him. Of course, since the IP still belongs to Capcom, Inafune couldn’t use the Mega Man universe, so he’s created an entirely new universe.

The other big surprise in the announcement yesterday is that the game will be getting a physical release. Everyone expected the title to be a Wii U eShop release and it still will, but should you be the type of person who likes to have a physical copy of their games, you now have that option with Mighty No. 9. The box art is pretty standard and features artwork we’ve seen from the team at Comcept before, but actually seeing it on the Wii U box brings the fact that the game is almost ready home. You’ll be able to pick up your copy of the game on September 15 in the United States, or September 18 in Europe.

Will you be getting a digital or physical copy of the game once it’s available?
