The Romanos

Traditionally, I’m not a resort kinda gal. Not particularly out of choice, just because when I book holidays they tend to be to big cities that I’ve wanted to explore for a long time. I have twitchy legs (is that even an expression?) and love to explore, which means sitting by (or splashing about in) a pool usually comes second. But the two times I’ve been lucky enough to visit a resort, I’ve swiftly remembered just how bloody good it is to stop and take a little time to relax at a place designed purely for that purpose.

The Romanos at Costa Navarino was the perfect place to do that. After checking in and gawping at my very own infinity pool in my room, my travel buddy Reem and I went to explore the place. At first it felt a little like a maze, a golf course to our left, a quiet pool complex to our right, the beach just ahead…but it didn’t take us long to settle in.

Taking a dip was one of the first things on our agendas. I’m not a strong swimmer, but I’d been dreaming of escaping the heat in a cool swimming pool since sweating at home in London during the ‘heatwave’. The perfect excuse to start on that tan, too.

After drying off on our sun loungers, we got ourself ready for dinner, heading into the Agora. This part of the resort felt like a small town centre, with plenty restaurants to choose from (I’ll go with souvlaki any day!), including a dedicated ice cream parlour, plus crepe and popcorn stands. Heaven, as far as I’m concerned.

I think I may have been converted to a resort kinda gal after all. It’s not looking likely that I’ll be able to book anything too relaxing until it’s time for mine and Miguel’s honeymoon next year, but at least now I’ve got a taste for it..!
