Song One Director Kate Barker-Froyland Shares Her Favorite Travel Playlist

We’re still swooning over Song One and its soundtrack, co-written by Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice. They were kind enough to drop in and put together a playlist for us which we featured earlier this week.

Today we’re excited to share yet another exclusive playlist with you. This one, from director Kate Barker-Froyland.

Here’s a playlist, “LA-NYC” (I made it on one of many plane rides from Los Angeles to New York). I love all these artists and the range of sounds here- the upbeat energy from TV on the Radio and Saint Vincent that makes you want to dance, Charlotte Gainsbourg’s awesome beat and vocals, the melancholy of Air, the innovative arrangements of Alt-J, Ray Charles’ smooth voice, the haunting quality of Timbre Timbre’s voice and lyrics. Enjoy! x Kate

Art and music are integral to Song One and to its characters’ development. The film is set against the backdrop of Brooklyn’s vibrant indie music scene as Anne Hathaway‘s character Franny seeks out different musicians and artists her brother Henry loved, leading her to musician James Forester. We’re sharing exclusive playlists from the film’s cast and crew all week.
