A Peak Design “data compromise” leaked 10 years worth of customer service tickets.

In the grand scheme of things, there have been far worse security breaches than what Peak Design, the popular camera accessory brand, is currently dealing with.

But if you had any customer service interactions with the company between October 2013 and May 2023, well... everything contained in those tickets was accessed by an unknown third party before the issue was fixed. Not great.

The Acolyte carves out its own slice of the Star Wars universe

The new Disney Plus series is set 100 years before the prequels, giving its early episodes plenty of breathing room.

BlueCruising’ to the Sun...and back.

Ford CEO Jim Farley touted a recent milestone: 200 million miles traveled for customers using the automaker’s hands-free driver assist system, BlueCruise. That’s enough for a roundtrip from the Earth to the Sun. Meanwhile, Tesla said its customers using Full Self-Driving have gone over 1 billion miles — or enough for a trip to Saturn. Who will be the first to reach Pluto?

“The blood’s wrong.”

We’re a month out from the conclusion of Ti West’s genre-defying horror trilogy. It started with X, continued with Pearl, and on July 5th will wrap up with Maxxxine, an ‘80s Hollywood murder mystery that once again stars Mia Goth. Honestly though? I kind of want to watch the fake horror movie teased at the beginning of Maxxxine’s latest trailer.

Hopefully this $125 gadget will vanish my gray hairs.

After a 2.5 year wait, L’Oréal’s Colorsonic launches today. The pitch is a less messy dyeing experience. The ColorSonic base has a cartridge that mixes and dispenses hair dye onto a brush. And then you just brush it on.

I went to check out a demo yesterday. Let’s just say, I’m eagerly waiting for L’Oréal to send me a cartridge so I can try it myself.

California is considering new limits on robotaxis.

Under a new state bill, cities could limit the number of autonomous vehicles on their roads, and set maximum fares that companies could charge. The bill, which passed the State Senate and is now being considered by the Assembly, is in response to a number of incidents in which robotaxis blocked emergency vehicles or caused traffic jams. Lawmakers say they want to regulate robotaxis the same way they do human-driven for-hire vehicles.

SpaceX is cleared to launch its next Starship test.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted SpaceX the license it needed for the fourth flight test of its massive Starship rocket this week.

After the previous launch achieved Starship’s first reentry from space, SpaceX says its next objectives will be executing a landing burn and soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico with the Super Heavy booster, and a controlled entry of Starship.

Intel’s one-minute Battlemage GPU demo is good news for Lunar Lake handhelds.

You can find the whole thing in PCWorld’s YouTube video at the 34-minute mark: with 3DMark Wildlife Extreme locked to 60fps, Lunar Lake (and its integrated memory!) is consuming 10 watts less than Meteor Lake.

As The Phawx points out, Meteor Lake kind of sucked at efficiency, so don’t celebrate yet? At least now Intel has a chance.

Sonos Ace review: was it worth it?

The first headphones from Sonos deliver on comfort, sound, and more — with a unique TV Audio Swap feature that’s very convenient (when it works). But the ongoing app fiasco casts a cloud over the company’s big moment.

Google appears to be working on a Spotify extension for Gemini.

Google introduced AI extensions last year, letting the bot formerly-known-as Bard connect with other Google apps and services. It’s continued expanding the feature, most recently adding a connection between Gemini and YouTube Music, but now Android Authority has found code in the app indicating Gemini could connect to Spotify, too, eventually.

Hopefully, Gemini works better than our experience with the Rabbit R1.

They even come in their own jewel cases! My test results surprised me: I really thought I’d prefer the green one with built-in cables, but the yellow’s my winner. They’re roughly $20-25 on AliExpress.

Google’s head of privacy is leaving — and his role won’t be filled.

That’s according to a report from Forbes, which says privacy chief Keith Enright is departing Google after 13 years. Meanwhile, Matthew Bye, who headed up competition law at Google, is also leaving after 15 years.

Google spokesperson Jenn Crider confirmed to Forbes that the company doesn’t plan on replacing either executive.
