Sega sadly won’t release a mini Saturn or Dreamcast this year.

Sega made amazing tiny consoles every year from 2019-2022, including the Genesis Mini, Game Gear Micro, Astro City Mini, Mega Drive Mini 2 and its flight stick — but not in 2023, and producer Yosuke Okunari now says we won’t get one in 2024 either.

Last year, Sega’s president said a mini Saturn would take “a little longer” at minimum.

Epoch Times CFO arrested on money laundering charges.

A few years ago, Facebook accused Epoch Media Group of laundering pro-Trump posts using networks of fake accounts. Today, prosecutors announced the arrest of The Epoch Times CFO Bill Guan and accused him of laundering at least $67 million for himself and the company using gift cards and crypto.

The “media company” allegedly claimed the money came from donations, profits, or subscriptions, as NBC News reported last year.

Why yes, I’d love to blow up some cartoony Nazis on a turn-based grid.

I have no idea how many Metal Slug games there have been, but the long-running franchise — with its arcade-y guns and tanks action — is a treasure. And now there’s a tactics game coming in the fall? From the creators of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge?

I don’t know who asked for this but sign me up.

Where did the viral “All eyes on Rafah” image come from?

Two people from Malaysia both say they used Microsoft Image Creator to produce the graphic in support of Palestinians.

It’s been shared over 50 million times now, and now NPR has spoken to both of them: Zila Abka, who months ago posted the version found by 404 Media on Facebook, and Amirul Shah, who shared the now-viral Instagram template.

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey may have a new headset, too.

“Even Palmer would rather release a handheld than a VR HMD, just like Valve,” joked Valve watcher Brad Lynch, after seeing Luckey’s new Game Boy. (Valve context here.)

Luckey replied: “I am going to be announcing the fact that I am working on a new HMD at AWE!”

Cruisin’ into Dallas.

The GM-owned robotaxi company is manually testing its cars in the Texas capitol, as it continues to slowly work its way back to some semblance of a commercial service. Cruise is also operating some of its vehicles in autonomous mode in Phoenix. The company suspended its robotaxi service last year after one of its vehicle struck and drug a pedestrian for over 20 feet in San Francisco.

Apple’s WWDC keynote is June 10th at 1PM ET.

Will we see new hardware, or will all the news have something to do with AI? Greg Joswiak isn’t telling.

Before the event starts, however, Apple released student-targeted Mac ads promoting the power and long battery life of M-series MacBooks. They’re not responding to or even acknowledging the competition’s attacks (yet), but if Qualcomm’s promises hold up, then maybe that will change.

Can Etsy survive in a Temu world?

Handmade marketplace Etsy is fighting for customers as shoppers turn instead of ultra cheap retailers, The Information reports. One problem is that Temu products are often listed for more money on Etsy.

Etsy sellers have long complained about drop shipped items infiltrating the site. It was a key issue in the 2022 seller strike and subsequent organizing efforts.
