What To Expect From A Pure & Simple Estate Sale

So you are thinking about going to an estate sale, but you aren't sure what to expect. Let's rephrase. You are thinking about coming to a Pure & Simple Estate Sale. Because. Well obviously. ;)

Estate sales are a great place to shop for furniture, home decorations, outdoor necessities, and everything in between (like cleaning supplies).

Yes, we sell cleaning supplies. And yes, the fly off the shelf! :)

While they are a great place to shop, we fully understand that many people aren't comfortable shopping them. Because they don't know what to expect. And thus not going is better than going & having a bad experience.

So what can you expect from shopping at a Pure & Simple Sale?

WE START ON SATURDAY & END ON SUNDAY

Our estate sales are 2 day events. Unless it is an 8,000 sq ft home full of treasures (we have one of those coming up in March!).

We always start on Saturday. And always end on Sunday. Unless it is a holiday weekend (like our Labor Day Sale) or in a rare case where the family needs Sunday to clear the home before the closing date (we have one of these coming up next month!).

Saturday hours are 9am - 2pm.

Sunday hours are 1pm - 5pm. Unless it is winter in which the hours are 12pm - 4pm.

EVERYTHING WILL BE PRICED. AND PRICED WELL

When you shop at Target you know exactly how much something costs. We feel you should have the same experience at our sale.

We price absolutely everything inside and outside the home. This makes shopping a breeze for you. And checkout easy for us. Some items will have a category price (like candles or purses or cleaning supplies). Just look around and you will see the category price listed somewhere nearby.

And while on the subject of prices. We price affordably. We understand where we are in the market, and we make sure not to price gauge. Seriously.

FURNITURE (& LARGER ITEMS) WILL HAVE PERFORATED PRICE TAGS

Once you take the bottom half of the price tag, then that item is yours. You can continue to shop knowing that someone else will not be able to scoop it up from under your nose.

We have an inventory sheet at the checkout that is updated when someone purchases a piece of furniture. This is security level #2 for your treasure.

PRICES ARE FIRM ON SATURDAY. EVERYTHING IS 50% OFF ON SUNDAY

We don't haggle. Period. We are not car salesman & don't really enjoy the experience of haggling over $1. So we price well & have a straightforward discounting policy.

Prices are firm on Saturday.

Everything is 50% off on Sunday. No further discount is given as we feel 50% is a steal as is. :)

THE ENTIRE HOUSE WILL BE EXTREMELY ORGANIZED

Like so organized, you will want to move in. Except you can't. But you can hire me. And I can come organize your house. ;)

But seriously. The house will be organized so well that it you won't have to "think" while shopping. All you will have to decide is if you like something well enough to purchase it.

We take great pride in our setup process. As in, we basically live at the house for 2 weeks to get it ready for the sale. And by ready I mean organized.

WE ACCEPT CASH & CREDIT CARDS

Any and all credit cards. Chips too!

We use a fancy point-of-sale contraption that secures your information over our protected internet service.

YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE MY SMILING FACE AT THE CHECKOUT

I always run the checkout. No one else. I know everything there is to know about the house and the stuff and the prices. If you have a question, then I know the answer.

Not to mention, I just love seeing our customers week in and week out. :)

The only thing I wish I could do? Stay inside and re-organize after shoppers rummage through piles and stacks. I seriously love it. <3 #dorkalert

See me up there? And all those boxes to the right are for customers to use.

YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN BAG

We try to provide shopping bags, boxes, & packing materials when possible. However, we don't always have that luxury.

But we always allow customers to use their own bags & boxes.

Just don't be offended when we ask to see in them before you leave. ;)

THERE WILL BE A DOG RUNNING AROUND

Cody, the mascot, is at all of our sales. He happliy accepts belly rubs, free of charge. :P

YOU WILL NEED TO LOAD YOUR PURCHASES

We can help if possible, but plan to load your own treasures. If you need to make two trips, then don't fret! I will guard your treasures while you take trip #1.

If you are planning to buy something heavy, then please bring your dad. Or husband. Or neighbor friend.

We try to have handtrucks available, but bringing your own makes the loading process that much faster. For you.

GET THERE EARLY IF THERE'S SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT

If you can't live without something, then I recommend getting there early.

We open at 9am on Saturday, but customers start to arrive as early as 7am to "get in line". We give out numbers as soon as we arrive (~an hour before starting time), so you can secure your spot in line and sit in the car. Or go get me coffee. #justsayin ;)

We take up the numbers & go over a few ground rules 10 minutes before opening time.

GET THERE LATER IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THE MAD RUSH

And if those "crazy estate sale shoppers" make you nervous, then come about 2 hours after we open. There will be plenty of great stuff left to browse & shop. And a lot less people to deal with.

WE UPDATE FACEBOOK WITH PHOTOS OF ITEMS AVAILABLE. AND ITEMS THAT HAVE SOLD

Facebook is our go to for all photos. We have photos sprinkled here, there, and yonder, but Facebook is where they all live.

After the sale ends on Saturday, we update the Facebook album with everything that sold. That way you can know if it's worth your drive on Sunday for "Half Off Day".

WE DON'T QUOTE PRICES OVER THE PHONE. OR EMAIL. OR FACEBOOK. OR INSTAGRAM.

Feel free to ask, but don't get mad when I tell you no. :) I happily quote prices after Saturday, but not prior. Inevitably, I will quote a price and then be asked how you can buy it prior. So the answer is just no. But remember - we price well! :)

YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO A RESTROOM

You have access at Target & the gas station. We feel it is common courtesy to allow you access at our sale.
This is totally NOT standard btw as you might be thinking "obviously, big deal". :)
