Dessert for Breakfast

Every. Damn. Day!

Ok, for one moment can we set aside some time for real talk? Tell me I’m not the only one who wakes up to a sunny beautiful day and thinks “It’s time for dessert”? Maybe it’s the fruit bat in me talking, or maybe it’s the fact I prefer a sweet, easy to digest fruits for breakfast as opposed to a cooked brekkie, but thanks to Nature’s Way Superfoods, I’m totally down with dessert for breakfast. Click below for my recipe good enough for breakfast (or dessert)!

Usually, when foods are this delicious we think “this is too good to be true”. Surely, something so darn delicious must be bad for us. But the truth is, this dish isn’t even the slightest bit naughty. That’s because it’s packed full of fibre, natural sugars, natural fats and a whole bunch of antioxidants. I like to steer clear of smoothies first thing in the morning that are heavy on the add-on’s, for example packing in the latest trendy oils, seeds, nuts, protein powders, and fibre mixes as they are much too heavy to be eaten all at once, let alone for the digestive system first thing in the morning.

Morning meals should be light, not in size, but in density, while remaining nutrient dense. Smoothies that are the simpler the better, are best for the morning. And ALWAYS after you’ve had at least a litre of warm water to help prepare the digestive tract for the day ahead. Which is why I love these powders by Nature’s Way so much, they are very easy to digest, they aren’t heavy so you won’t get that after meal low, and they are nutrient rich.

The Nature’s Way Super Greens plus Wild Reds combines 23 nutrient dense superfoods and a high potency of natural antioxidants which help support vitality and energy, with the high level of antioxidants helping to protect cells from free radical damage. The Super Greens plus Cacao is also rich in antioxidents, but also in magnesium which helps to support heart health and building strong muscles and bones. Best bit? Both of these powders have absolutely NO artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and no added sugar. Which is surprising because I’ve added a teaspoon of the Wild Reds to my water when I’ve been short on time and it tastes great, same goes for adding a little of the Super Greens plus Cacao my favourite nut milk for nutrients on the go.

But if you have the time in the morning, see below for my recipe which is a bit of a twist on an acai bowl, with the added delicious crunch of chocolate sprinkled nuts.
