Merry Monday & Happy New Week

A new day, a new week. A chance to hit pause and reset, and start again. Fortunately for me, this is the last week before my winter break. Don’t hate the perks of a career in education! So the week is chock full of activities, parties and potlucks.

A holiday performance with a tacky Christmas theme has prompted me to make a cape out of a dollar store Christmas tree skirt with gift bows hot- glued to it for an extra tacky flair.

I have no clue what I’m going to take for the potluck on Friday, but I have been scouring Pinterest for the perfect dish, and I will be sure to post it here at some point this week. Don’t be surprised if I post a pic of a container of grocery store brand macaroni salad!

Let’s see, what else did I want to tell you? Oh! A few posts back, there was a recipe for cheese biscuits. I finally got around to trying it this weekend. I really liked the fluffy texture of the biscuit, but beware the use of salted butter instead of the recommended unsalted butter. (Or at least decrease the amount of salt if you have to use salted butter.) Mine were a little on the salty side for me, and I would add a little more than the recommended cup of shredded cheese. They didn’t seem cheesy enough somehow, but they were pretty good.

Also, last week, you might remember I mentioned doing something new? Well it was really fun! I went with a few co-workers and friends to a place that does escape rooms. (It sounds scarier than it is, but so much fun!) Shout out to the staff of Ravenchase Adventure’s Escape Room RVA for making our first experience memorable! And yes, we made it out of the Mind Trap Room with 1 minute, 40 seconds to spare out of the 60 minutes we were allotted.

That’s all for now, until next time–Happy New Week!
