Cheers // Our Festive Holiday Brunch Party

The most wonderful time of the year is here, and I'm soaking up every whiff of fresh pine and nibble of seasonal treats! I’m enjoying holiday festivities more than ever because we’re at a phase in life where a lot of our friends have new kids, new jobs, or have moved to new places. It’s not always easy to see each other throughout the year, but a good party gives everyone a reason to make time and get together.

Last weekend I kicked off December by hosting a festive brunch and holiday gift swap for friends, and to celebrate my dear husband's birthday. Nick isn’t one to want the spotlight on himself, so he thought a combined birthday-holiday party was a great way to take some attention off himself. And being a man of few requests, all he asked for was good food and good drink, so it was the perfect opportunity to partner again with Stella Artois for a memorable holiday fête!

My talented friend Krissy of Boston Pollen did our florals - we went for a simple and elegant holiday theme with muted greenery. I love the mix of different eucalyptus, and the use of poinsettias, tulips, and white holiday berries! This gorgeous sprawling garland along the staircase found a second life adorning my fireplace after the party.

In addition to Stella Artois lager, we served a sprightly holiday punch made from their hard apple Stella Artois Cidre and fresh fruit. It was a perfect lighter refreshment for pairing with brunch fare earlier in the day.

I usually love cooking and entertaining at home, but breakfast foods are not my forte so I had Tatte Bakery do the catering. Their food is not only delish, but also presented beautifully.

Salad & tarts table - my favorite is the mushroom & potato quiche!
We always order Shakshuka whenever we see it on the menu, and have tried to recreate it several times at home without much luck (yet)! It's a breakfast dish with eggs poached into it, served with bread to sop up the saucy goodness. We served both the traditional tomato-based one as well as a delicious, vibrant green version with Swiss chard and leeks:

How darling are these littlest partygoers in their holiday best?
Nick and I didn't intend to be that matchy-matchy couple ... we got dressed separately, then groaned when we saw one another but each refused to be the one to change! I ordered this coated Maje skirt from their NYC store after seeing it styled beautifully on my friend Wendy. It's voluminous and dramatic so not for everyone, but I absolutely loved it, and figured no better time to sport a tutu than during the holidays! The size EUR 34 has an elasticized waist which is a snug fit on me. If you're crafty and looking for an affordable and no-frills tulle skirt, definitely check out my DIY tutorial!

Thank you to our wonderful friends who came from near & far to celebrate together with us! And thank you to Stella Artois for partnering on this post.
