HGTV Dream Home 2015

I had the best experience last week that I still can’t believe happened. I flew to Boston with GMC to tour the HGTV Dream Home on Martha’s Vineyard. It all feels a little like a dream still, no pun intended. Martha’s Vineyard was one of the prettiest places I have ever been. We took a ferry to the island after I flew in & right away I was captivated by the Vineyard & all of it’s charm. It was like something out of a storybook. The island was filled with little towns & homes that made me feel we were in a different country. I seriously gawked at every house & was probably super annoying to ride around with because I kept gasping at every turn. I was literally in heaven. You can check my Instagram for more photos of the trip & I might do a post on the blog of all the other photos I took on the island, but today it’s all about that dream home. Seriously the HGTV dream home this year was everything I love. The outside is everything I thought my forever home would look like, & the inside had elements that I thought only existed in my dreams. I really could go on & on about how amazing the dream home was to tour, but I think I’ll just show you some photos I took as I walked through it & let the photos do the talking…

We got to the dream home around 7pm & it was the foggiest day I had ever seen, so it was a little hard to take really good pictures because I’m not a pro, but I think you get the idea of how amazing this home was. & check out that amazing GMC Acadia Denali parked out front…

Let’s enter the house through the beautiful front door…

& when you enter the house you are in the living room/dining room area of the home otherwise known as the great room. It boasted high ceilings with wood beams from an old barn in the area. The windows on the ceiling provided great light even at dusk when we were there. I loved the open feel of this space where the living room, dining room, & kitchen came together. It was very open yet cozy which I love. To the left of the front door when you walk in is the living room, & to the right is the dining/kitchen area.

& off of the dining room is the lovely little kitchen. I loved that it wasn’t massive because let’s face it, I’m not one to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but it still offered everything you could dream of including a pot filler, large island, great storage, plenty of counter space, & a sky light as well. I just love how light & bright this space is! Can you imagine it in the afternoon?!

From the kitchen, down a little hallway, was the master suite with a bathroom, dressing room, closet, & bedroom. I loved that the master bedroom had it’s own wing of the house & that the wood beams were carried on to this space as well.

The master bath is next & it’s so inviting. I wanted to curl up in this tub so badly, but alas I thought that might be frowned upon so I settled for taking photos of this lovely space…

& from the master suite I headed on down to the kids rooms. One was a shared girls space & the other was a blue nautical room that would be perfect for guests too! Each of these rooms had on suite bathrooms as well that I did not get any photos of. Also, every bedroom had it’s own patio area off the room which I thought was such a great detail on a house that you rarely see.

& the blue nautical room…

From there I checked out the laundry room. I loved the bead board ceilings & walls. & how such a tiny space had such great storage!

Next stop was the bathroom next to the laundry room. That paint color! Swoon. & that mirror. I’m usually not a wall color person, but this one had my heart. It was so pretty in person, my terrible photography couldn’t capture it’s beauty.

While we are at it let’s take a look at the half bath on the other side of the house in the hallway between the blue room & the garage…

& on to one of my most favorite parts of the house, the back patio. Seriously this space is something that I would have at my house & I felt like they read my mind! Just look at all that beautiful furniture & that patio, oh & the outdoor shower…

& What dream home would be complete with out the most perfect little dog house ever? I mean are you kidding me? I think I need to get one of these for the LMB dogs…

You guys, after the tour with GMC it was so hard to leave. I felt so at home in the house. It didn’t feel stuffy or cold one bit & I felt like I could curl up on the couch with a good book & relax. It truly is a dream home. I mean, just look at it.

I had SO MUCH fun visiting the dream home with GMC. It was such a great group of people & it was so fun hearing everyones reaction to the wonderful home. I can’t even name a favorite part of the house, but if I had to a name a few they would be the beams that are from an old barn that are throughout the house, all the beadboard detailing, the back patio area, & that master bathroom tub! Also, the main favorite I have was the exterior of the home. I love all the cedar shakes, the lovely windows, & just the coastal cottage vibe that it has. I could go on & on about the house. I actually have so much to say about it that I can’t even find the words to say. We even go to hear that amazing architect, Patrick Ahearn, talk about how he designed the home & how he came up with all of the details which was very interesting. If you want to read more about the house you can check it out (here). What is YOUR favorite part of the house?!
