Horseshoe Bay & Marble Falls Vacation Recap

Hi, friends! Sorry for the slight absence, but last week I tagged along with Daniel to a conference he was attending at the Horseshoe Bay Resort near Marble Falls, TX (about 90 miles north of San Antonio). We don't get to take vacations too often because of our hectic work schedule, plus Pee Wee our little senior dog is demanding. So, luckily, we got to make this a family affair.

To be totally honest, our villa apartment sucked. The wifi was bad, the bed in there was a FULL bed (seriously, is this my crappy college apartment again?), there was a funky smell, and it looked like it had last been updated in 1999. But, it was the resort's only pet friendly option, so it is what it is.
The resort itself was STUNNING, and it's not like you spend a lot of time in your room, right?
There's three pools we had access to, and the one at the Yacht Club has a gorgeous white sand beach overlooking Horseshoe Bay. We enjoyed two sunsets out there on the beach and a few expensive cocktails...because you know, when in Rome. We ate at Lantana inside the main tower (it's pretty average as far as food goes) and at Y Bar inside the Yacht Club (the truffle fries were amazing!)

While D was learning about college financial stuff (snooze!), I enjoyed putting lots of steps on my Fitbit just wandering around the resort. There were many trails and bridges to enjoy the scenery. Weather was absolute perfection despite it being blazing hot.

Below is a spot I stayed at for a good half hour just thinking and enjoying nature. It's sometimes cathartic to tune out everyone, turn off the phone and just sit with your thoughts to clear your mind. Bliss. Pure bliss.

When I wasn't at the resort, I was out in Marble Falls checking out their antique and thrift stores and becoming obsessed with Which Wich. There were a few stores I liked, but mostly they had lots of tableware (plates, tea cups, etc.) and I was on the hunt for more unique home decor kind of stuff.
I did find a few FAB finds that I will share with you all after I figure out what the heck is wrong with my camera. They deserve good photos, and the photos in this post are all iPhone pics.
I loved my visit to ReDid- the employee working was so nice, and it was filled with farmhouse chic decor. Not my style at all, BUT it's always nice to support local businesses and their shop was charming.

Another store I visited is One Swanky Shop, and they live up to their name. I spotted a brass ant (literally, a brass ant) for $80ish and a lamp I liked was about $700 . It was a treat for the eyes to look at their glam, large scale furniture pieces, but it was a bit too swanky for this girl on a budget.

I pretty much got all the antique/thrift stores done in a day in Marble Falls, so the next day I headed to Burnet, TX to visit their famous antique stores. I found them a tad overpriced, but I think I'm used to the junktique prices in South Texas.
Both of these mirrors caught my eye at the indoor flea market in Burnet and I bought neither of them. Kind of regret not buying the one on the left- it would have been perfect in a navy and gold bathroom.

Another fave thing of mine is to look at model homes in neighborhoods I will never, ever be able to afford to live in. They give me inspiration for how to bring in the luxe for less.
I will say that I am so not a fan of the color navy. Doesn't do it for me...UNTIL I saw this very grecian-esque model home, and now I am dying to do a navy wall in the guest room or perhaps the guest bathroom.
The navy and white is so crisp and fresh. It feels and looks bright, clean and relaxing. Oh, navy, I love you. I have more photos from the model homes, but that'll have to be it's own post. So much eye candy!

Who wouldn't want to live here? That love seat and rug are so perfect.

Overall, it was nearly seven days of not worrying about work, the blog, life or what I ate. I completely went off the Weight Watchers band wagon and gained 4 pounds. I've been at a plateau for about three weeks, so maybe this will help kick things into gear. I am back on track and counting my points, but it sure was nice to not fret about points for a week or so.
In less than two weeks I'll be heading to Des Moines for a Christmas in July event for BHG Live Better, and I'm so thrilled to be getting in little getaways every now and then.
I've been feeling really down about life for reasons I can't get into on here (my marriage is fine, I promise), and being able to recharge my batteries and gain some distance from the stressors in my life is making a world of difference in my mental health and general well being.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you've enjoyed a sneak peek at my vacation last week. Up next is the other part of my rug review. Here's a sneak peek. xo.
