Fruit Infused Water

I am so excited to bring you a guest post from my sister today!! I have been begging her for a while now to share some of her creativity with us She is a creative, crafty, crocheting, cake decorating mama of two little sweeties.

Hi Everyone! My name is Erica and I am Kelly’s sister. I love all her healthy living posts! When she asked if I would guest post here I couldn’t think of anything in my life that would be worth writing about. Then I told her about the fruit infused water that I was trying one day and she said, “Write about that!” So… here goes

Fruit infused waters are so simple, refreshing, and delicious. My husband had a kidney stone last month and I have been encouraging him to incorporate more water in his day to avoid reoccurring stones.

I am always looking for creative (sneaky) ways to get more fruit and water into my 3 year old’s day and really, who couldn’t use an extra glass of water in their diet and a fun way to do it.

First, you need to choose your favorite yummy fruits. I chose lemon and raspberry, strawberry and kiwi, and cucumber. Really any fruit will work…well maybe not bananas

Next, choose a jar or glass to make your fruit infused water in. I used quart mason jars with lids but if you just want to make one glass you can use whatever you like to drink from.

Wash your fruit, it is going to be soaking in the water you will be drinking (even the lemon).

Cut up the fruit you chose and add it to the jar. I cut mine up evenly for the sake of pictures but you don’t have to be fancy to get the yummy taste

Finally, add water to the jar! So simple! I used cold water and left them in the fridge overnight so they would be ready to go in the morning. I find my mornings are very busy with 2 little kids and I try to set myself up for success by preparing the night before. But you can still get great flavor from the fruit if you prepare the water in the morning and drink it later in the day.

You can strain it if you like or leave the fruit in it. Serve in a fancy glass, straight out of the jar, or even in a sippy cup. My daughter loved the strawberry water and my son wanted to drink all of my lemon water!

A great thing about fruit infused water is you get the benefits of water and fruit all in one glass.

Here are a few more pictures of the flavors we tried.

One final tip, don’t throw away your fruit! The berries are still delicious by itself or added to a smoothie. Lemons or oranges can be used to freshen the garbage disposal.

Thanks for letting me share fruit infused water with you. I would love to hear flavor combinations that you try!

Thanks so much for sharing today, Erica! You can find more from Erica on Pinterest, Facebook and Etsy!
