Geometric + Stylish Outdoorsy Nursery

You’re about to be extremely impressed by this couple’s flair for the DIY. Not only is their nursery on our baby blog today the CUTEST, but they also made so much of the decor themselves. The mix of Southwestern, Aztec, Woodland influences create a super stylish outdoorsy nursery. We love the geometric details -ahem..that painted wall – and the teal dresser made us want to sprint to the hardware store for a can of matching paint. We love how these two incorporated their maternity session into shooting their nursery. Their pretty home is the perfect canvas for a casual, real-life style shoot. Thank you Stephanie Rose, for bringing the beautiful room to life through your photos. Also, mama’s blog is ultra cute as well. Here’s how she did it all.

I was originally inspired by the national parks posters by Anderson Design Group. I loved the colors and the mid-century modern feel. I knew I wanted to incorporate a sort of Aztec feel, so I decided to stick with geometric shapes and lines. I saw an accent wall with sponge painted triangles on Pinterest that I fell in love with, so that was one of the first things we did to the room.

We chose the IKEA Tarva dresser, which comes unfinished, so we painted the drawers a mint green and stained the rest to match the picture frames and the rocking chair. We made our own leather loop drawer pulls to replace the generic ones that the Tarva comes with. The rocking chair was my one big splurge from Giggle.

I made the mobile from embroidery hoops and wooden animal cut outs that I found on etsy.

I had been eyeing some pricey sunburst mirrors but made my own with a $5 pack of wood shims from the hardware store. It saved me a ton of money and I think it turned out even better than store bought! We hung inexpensive IKEA shelves as bookshelves. I hand painted his name on a piece of scrap wood to hang over the dresser.

I also made the pom pom garland that is currently hanging on his crib. The rug is from goingrugs.com and the ottoman is from Grandin Road.
