Canyon Point residence is a contemporary mountain retreat that melds modern architecture with rustic materials, designed by RKD Architects in Telluride, Colorado. Sculpted of masonry walls, this dramatic property seems to meld into the landscape. With simple, low pitch roof forms, the wood and glass structure draws the mountainous landscape into the interior of the home. Sweeping and curved copper roof forms cantilever over a jaw-dropping canyon which drops 1,500 feet below to the San Miguel River. Built for a couple, the home encompasses 9,770 square feet of living space with six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms. There seems to be a perfect balance of clean, modern lines infused with high-country textures, surrounded by an outdoor oasis. The outdoor living spaces includes patios, a fire pit, ponds and rambling meadows, surrounded by 900-acres of wilderness preserve and 360 degree vistas of 14,000 foot snowy peaks. “Douglass fir trusses, Arkansas tumbled stone, reclaimed oak barn wood, and copper siding provide an organic feel to the house”, states the architects.
