DIY Gold Striped Notebook

As much as I love my phone and my computer and all things gadgety, I absolutely love writing lists, brainstorming ideas, and even doodling in little notebooks. In fact, as long as I've carried a purse, I've also carried little notebooks and pens as well. Usually I use them for me, but my kids also love it when I let them draw or write in one of my little notebooks. Sometimes we even use them to play games when we're out and about.

I found these adorable RAINBOW notebooks at Office Depot, and they are just so perfect for me to carry around in my purse. Plus, I keep a few on my desk next to my computer so that I can write down ideas when they come to me.

These little notebooks are so colorful too, and since I love to make things, they look like little blank slates to me. I also picked up a bigger pink spiral notebook and a matching pink stapler in this new trendy selection of office supplies by Divoga. I wanted to give it a stripey makeover, but there are so many fun ways you could decorate a simple notebook like this one.

What you need:
1. Solid notebook
2. Washi tape
3. Inka Gold (or another gold paint)

What you do:
1. Tape off stripes across your notebook with washi tape.
2. Test your gold paint first to see how it takes to the notebook. The Inka Gold paint sort of rubs on, and at first it wasn't sticking to the glossy cover, but once it started to stick it worked really well.
3. Let your paint fully dry and remove your tape, and enjoy!

P.S. I picked up all of the supplies used and shown in this post (except for the Inka Gold and brush) from the gel pens to the Post-It flags to the paper clips at Office Depot.
