Snow Lights

Mocht januari een kleur zijn, het zou één van deze Pupa Snow Queen Frozen Crystals-tinten worden. Period. Deze driedimensionele nail art (en 3D mag je letterlijk nemen, maar daarover later meer), straalt pure koelheid uit én bezit een tikkeltje Disney-magie (ah… Frozen). Helaas pindakaas ben ik een enorme kluns als het aankomt op nail art. Mijn linkse hand ziet er altijd piekfijn uit, de rechtse variant is heel wat minder. Deze Snow Light leek me eerder gemakkelijk: één laagje nagellak, laten drogen, en vervolgens vinger per vinger een nieuw laagje lak en onmiddellijk de kristallen aanbrengen. Nadien gebruik je het borsteltje voor de kristallen te verdelen en een beetje plat te drukken. Geen moeilijke tekeningen, geen strategisch geplaatste diamantjes. Gewoon wat kristallen in het rond gooien. Toch?

If January was a colour, it would be one of these Pupa Snow Queen Frozen Crystals shades. Period. These three-dimensional nail art (literally 3D, but more on that later), is equal to sheer coolness and has a bit of that Disney magic (ah … Frozen). Unfortunately, I am a freaking nobody when it comes to nail art. My left hand always looks very posh, the right version… not that much. This Snow Light kit seemed rather easy: one layer of nail polish, let it dry for a couple of minutes, and then, finger by finger, add a new layer of polish and immediately apply the crystals. Afterwards, use the brush to distribute the crystals and to crush them a bit. No complicated drawings, no strategically placed diamonds. Just throwing around some crystals. Right?

Eigenlijk komt het daar op neer, ja. Alleen ging ik faliekant de mist in bij die stap waarin het borsteltje de hoofdrol speelt. Ik gebruikte het namelijk veel te snel, waardoor ik een soort mix kreeg van nagellak in rare kronkels en kristallen. Heel eventjes laten drogen dus, voordat je alles op zijn plaats wil leggen. Het uiteindelijke resultaat kon me wel bekoren: winters, koel én kleurrijk. Tot zover mijn enthousiasme. Want de voorgenoemde kristallen hebben me verwond (écht). Ze zijn verdomd scherp, en als er eentje niet mooi plat op je nagel ligt, maar er wat uitsteekt, heb je prijs: hallo mini-krasje. Gevolg: na 2 dagen was 50% van de kristallen verdwenen. Nee, ze zijn er niet afgevallen. Ik heb ze eruit getrokken omdat ze me pijn deden en het ongemakkelijk aanvoelde (plus: panties zijn op dat moment geen goed idee). Conclusie: heel erg mooi, die Snow Lights uit de Snow Queen collectie, en ideaal voor een avondje uit. Maar niet meer dan dat.

Basically: yes. I only failed during the brush chapter. I used it too fast, so I got a weird mix of twisted nail polish and crystals. Let it dry for a while before putting everything in place. I adore the result though: cool and colourful at the same time. So much for my enthusiasm. Because the aforementioned crystals have wounded me (really). They are damn sharp, and if one sticks out, you can say hello to a new mini-scratch. Result: after 2 days, 50% of the crystals disappeared. No, they have not fallen off. I’ve pulled them out because they hurt me and it felt uncomfortable (plus: panties is a no-go). Conclusion: I love the Snow Lights look, and its a great manicure for a night out. But that’s it. Period again.
