Global Style: The Home of Olivia Babarczy

This week I’m continuing my series of global style influencers with the amazing home of Olivia Babarczy from Sydney Australia. When I saw her home on The Grace Tales and read about her amazing family I was immediately drawn in. As a mother of four children myself, I felt like I could relate to her experience and fell in love with her style. Take a look at the beautiful design of Olivia Babarczy.

The 1920’s home was renovated by Olivia with the help of architect Glynn Gilling. I love their fresh, modern approach to this mission style home. This dining room has me drooling! Stunning cone pedants (similar on sale now) echo the steel of the beautiful surrounding windows, all within a crisp white palette. I love the natural finish of the dining table and wishbone chairs. It adds just the right amount of contrast and color.

You can tell this is a family friendly home without compromising style.

The bold patterned tile kitchen is amazing. I love the focus on one wall and the rich dark gray color. It’s such a clean, minimal space, with signature elements of the home carried through – steel windows and a beautiful black iron light fixture.

The main living area has a wonderful open and inviting feel. I love the flow from living to dining room, to incorporated home office. The furniture is minimal and architectural with mid-century key pieces and a few bohemian elements like the rattan statement chairs.

I like the pairing of a dark, practical rug with lighter upholstered pieces. It keeps the room fresh while staying kid-friendly.

Here is a peek into a corner of the great room. I like the desk area that was created off the dining room. Perfect for afterschool homework.

One of the things I love about discovering amazing designers from around the globe, is realizing that we do have things in common. It’s wonderful that we can connect and explore places and designs, that not so long ago, we would have never known. It’s fun to see the collective global inspiration in their designs. In The Grace Tales, Olivia mentions how she kept the style of the home true to its Spanish heritage but with Scandinavian and Californian influences. Maybe that’s why I feel in love with her home.

Thank you for joining me today for the second part of my global style series. To get a similar look of this beautiful modern, mission style home see below. Have a wonderful day!
