I Swear I Lived

“Hope when you take that jump, you don’t fear the fall
Hope when the water rises, you built a wall
Hope when the crowd screams out, they’re screaming your name
Hope if everybody runs, you choose to stay

Hope that you fall in love, and it hurts so bad
The only way you can know is give it all you have
And I hope that you don’t suffer but take the pain
Hope when the moment comes, you’ll say…”

― OneRepublic

Last Saturday was truly a check off the bucket list. As part of my Christmas gift, my boyfriend took me to see my absolute favourite band OneRepublic perform live at Rogers Arena. Ryan Tedder’s an extremely talented singer, songwriter, and musician (not to mention a total dreamboat), and it was incredible to finally see him, Zach Filkins, Eddie Fisher, Brent Kutzle, and Drew Brown up-close. With each and every song they played, my heart and soul filled with so much joy and happiness. The entire show was nothing short of amazing.

Although I myself am not musically inclined, music has always been there for me. Even if I’m having a bad day, I can always count on it to make it all better, even for just a moment. I especially love going to concerts to see people from all walks of life and varying age groups come together to watch one group (or person) perform. It’s as if in the midst of all the chaos in today’s society, with the differences and disagreements between people of clashing categories, they’ve found one universal language to speak to everyone and bring them together in a uniform understanding of real, quality music. It takes true talent to accomplish that, and OneRepublic does this so effortlessly.

It’s safe to say that my boyfriend definitely earned major brownie points for this gift. We’ve come so far since our first Christmas together when he bought me a Japanese Cherry Blossom gift set from The Body Shop because I’m Asian (true story). Anyway, I hope you all have a great Mother’s Day weekend. Don’t forget to enter my Modern Minerals Makeup giveaway if you haven’t already.
