Love Like This

“We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.”
― Sam Keen

I often get asked who takes my photos. The answer is, of course, my boyfriend. I’m blessed beyond words that I’ve found my better half, my best friend, and the love of my life. After nearly 5 years together, we have this remarkable unspoken understanding that I breathe for and sometimes take for granted, but know I could never live without. *cue barfing noise*

I’m a firm believer in having people in your life who are willing to challenge you and in turn challenge themselves, too. My boyfriend is my biggest motivator and someone who keeps me humble and focused on what’s truly important. I love positive progression, but it’s even better with someone who shares the same struggles with you and is not afraid of holding you accountable for those weak moments where we sometimes lose ourselves. I thank him for always being patient, understanding, compassionate, and my laughter when the rain comes.

That being said, our relationship is far from perfect. We fight, we laugh, we fuck, we make love, we cry, we joke around, and we contemplate smothering each other with a pillow. This is why I believe it’s crucial to never forget what the early stage of a relationship feels like. You know, that ridiculous, inconvenient, over-the-moon, can’t-keep-your-hands-off-each-other, hyperventilating-for-a-gasp-of-air-while-a-million-butterflies-swarms-around-your-stomach,

sip-of-my-juice, kind of feeling.

No matter what we go through, every single morning when I wake up and see his sleeping face, I can’t help but get lost in the romance of it all. They say that love makes the world go round, but it’s what keeps my world together. So when shit gets tough and I want to throw in my towel, I remember that feeling. I remember why I fell, and why I still fall every single day.
