Afternoon Tea At The Berkeley...

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky to be invited to a special afternoon tea with New Zealand based skincare brand Antipodes. Afternoon tea is definitely one of my favourite things to partake in, so I was all in. We were invited to the The Berkeley hotel in London. Situated a stones throw from Harrods, we were in posh territory, and I was more than excited to pretend I was in an episode of Made in Chelsea for the afternoon.

We usually associate afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones, and well tea. But afternoon tea at The Berkeley is slightly different. Named Pret-A-Portea, the items served are based on fashion trends from across the world. With a new menu every six months, they look at the trends from the world's most famous designers and turn the creations into yummy canapés and deserts. It really was beautiful, and unlike anything I'd ever seen before. We were also treated to champagne, and a selection of sandwiches which were just heavenly.

As well, as eating the amazing desserts, sandwiches, and cakes, we also met Elizabeth, creator of Antipodes. I have to say she was so so lovely and down to earth, and made us all feel so welcome and like we were really important. Sadly I have been to a few events recently, that have made me feel bloggers were an after thought, and we were really unimportant. It's never nice to make the effort to go to an event, to feel like you're not wanted. But this wasn't this case at all, and it was so nice. I was joined by several other lovely bloggers, and we all chatted, ate, drank and had a lovely time.

Elizabeth explained the back story to Antipodes, which was so interesting to hear, and great to hear how well they are doing. They're a small company, but are branching out across the world. She also explained which products were best for each skin type, and I have a few I have my eye on that she said were perfect for blemishes and red marks.

Antipodes have recently released a new facial serum, it's called Worship and is an antioxidant super fruit serum. It aims to anti age, and help to de stress the skin. I will get back with my thoughts soon. But we were also very kindly gifted a few other products, such as the Juliet Brightening Cleanser, and Rejoice Light Day Cream. I have been using them for a couple of weeks so far and they are really nice natural products. I will get back to you though in a few weeks, if I notice any improvements!

The afternoon went by in a flash, and before we knew it, we'd been enjoying afternoon tea for almost four hours! It was a really nice few hours, and it made me feel incredibly lucky that as a blogger, I get to go to nice events such as this, and I appreciated all the effort and time that it must have taken to have arranged the event.

I am now interested to use more products from Antipodes, with everything being natural, vegetarian and after finding out the brand do not test on animals, it's inspired me to use more. I love finding more out about the brands and especially those which have been set up by families and are independent.

If you're ever in London and looking for a special treat, The Berkeley did not disappoint. A gorgeous place, and unique afternoon tea. I would say it would be a perfect place to celebrate a birthday, especially if you're a lover of fashion. I would also urge you to check out Antipodes too, with a plethora of amazing products to try, why the heck not?

So tell me what's your favourite thing about Afternoon tea? I have to say, I am partial to a scone ;)
