Kenna Tote Bag Sewing Pattern
Wow. That’s what I said when I saw the incredibly detailed and excellent free bag sewing pattern by Leah Williams for her Kenna tote. I have many readers who have requested new bag sewing patterns, and ladies/gentlemen, here is one free tote bag sewing pattern too good to pass up.
It is the perfect mid-sized bag.
The quilting-weight cotton lining leaves the bag overall as lightweight bag that has just enough sturdiness to hold beach gear, knitting projects or a new mom’s array of baby things to carry around from the car to the house to your friend’s house, etc. It’s the right size for school stuff as well. Leah choose a sturdy duck canvas for the outside. To use it as a school bag that must contain book, I would either choose a sturdy outside, or line it with a sturdy cotton fabric inside.
The two tall side pockets are deep and narrow enough to hold a drink, which is a bonus in my book. The bag closes with a magnetic snap at the top. In other words, this bag has lots of good features, and is still simple to make.
The applique is something special. If you are into machine embroidery, then go ahead and download that pattern. Me, being misses simple-does-it, I’d use a ready-made applique instead. Or, I’d crochet an applique’, as I’m known to do.
