Winter is quite fickle here in the Midwest. While the east coast is getting slammed with snow, the Midwest’s latest snowfall is melting with a few warmish days. After four winters, I’m finally learning that I don’t have to live in my bulky parka- with smart layering you can wear a variety of lighter weight jackets with hidden warmth underneath.
Also, I’m getting away from my winter routine of only wearing knee high, thick snow boots when I’m out and about. The key is thermal layers underneath your jeans and top, thick socks, and accessories like scarves, gloves & hats. I hate being cold, but I’m also getting to the point where I hate living in the same snow gear pieces all year long. Well guys, I’m learning! Midwest, I totally get it now. It took four years for a California girl to come out of her winter rut, but I have.

They also come in an adorable taupe color which I’m super tempted to buy just because they are the right heel height and ready for city walkin’ and they are the only pair of ankle boots I’ve found that aren’t too “biker,” or too diva (if you get what I mean) that are still comfortable enough to galavant in.
