The Everyday Foundation.

For some time now, I’ve been on the hunt for a no-fuss, everyday foundation. Something I can simply sweep on without much effort, and know that it will last the entire day – come rain or shine. It’s probably a lot to ask, but I seem to have found it in my latest buy…

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation (£31) is a fluid foundation, which I actually prefer as I think they offer a natural, blendable finish that’s both seamless and perfected. The bottle also has a pump dispenser which is basically the dream, am I right?
I always use a dense buffing brush with this, like the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, and I find that the coverage is always exactly right – medium, but still skin-like with all my spots and uneven tone camouflaged. It’s a really effortless base, it doesn’t stick to dry patches and it seems to deal well with shine – it’s not a matte finish, but it’s not overly dewy either, I think it fits somewhere in-between.

The staying power is impressive, I never see any signs of it slipping off during the day – although I can sometimes have a slightly oily T-zone so I tend to finish this off with a dusting of a translucent powder for best results.
It’s also worth noting that I don’t feel the need to coat myself in concealer after application – it really does a great job of concealing all. I have quite a few blemishes around that time of the month, and this is when I really feel glad I have this in my stash. I don’t have to sit for 20 minutes trying to camouflage those hideous lumps and bumps – just one light buffing in of this and everything looks pretty minimised. In fact, my complexion looks a whole lot better on the whole.

I have to say, this is definitely one of the best bases I’ve come across in some time. You can build up coverage where you need it, and apply it lighting where you don’t. It lasts well and the shade range is, as always with Bobbi products, more than ideal – I’m usually shade Sand in all of the brand’s base products and I was the same in this. Easy peasy!
