Hallway Hanging Planters.

Another home post today; I really wanted to show you my new hallway additions – I actually cheated with these so I thought I would show you how to do it! Cheaters gon’ cheat cheat cheat…

In January, I made a terrible hungover decision to start stripping our hideous yellow, textured hallway wallpaper – let me tell you, it got boring quick. We have really high ceilings with ornate, very delicate coving at the top so the job was a MISSION! We got it done, but then we had to skimcoat the walls – we gave it our best but the walls were in quite bad condition so we got a couple of guys in to do it. They were cheap and quite messy, so the floors are a bit gross now – I wanted to sand them down anyway but we have the living room, hallway and kitchen to do so it’s a big job!
Maybe I’ll go away for a week and have Jordan see to it! Haha, dream on.

Anyway, the hallway – we painted the walls and woodwork white and the space is now much nicer. Not completely done but getting there – painting everything bar the floors white was a good idea as the space is now SO much brighter! I can’t recommend Pure Brilliant White paint enough, it really does brighten and create a larger space.

At the end of our hallway sits my beautiful West Elm Side Table, one of my favourite pieces of furniture. Classic, beautifully crafted and it holds all of our crap. On top is my Oyster print from streethub (via Rifle Paper Co), and a divine marble and copper lamp, also from streethub.

On to the geo shapes; I bought some brass tubing to make some of these himmeli shapes, but never got round to it. Then, when we were in Amsterdam, I saw a premade kit that had everything you needed to make shapes that hung from the ceiling, stuck to the wall or lay as ornaments – I was going to buy it right there and then, but I only took a handbag with me and I couldn’t really get it home. I found them on Amazon and quickly purchased (thanks Prime!), and set about getting them up.

The Umbra Prism Wall Decor set has three shapes in all, but they come separated so you actually get six pieces – I decided to hang one from the ceiling (twine and hook included), stick two halves to the wall (again, sticky things included) and put one together to make an ornament. I also had some air plants to pop in to complete the display – I bought these from Etsy, and I love them. They basically get all their nutrients from the humidity in the air, so they’re really easy to look after. Occasionally I’ll give them a little squirt with a spray bottle of water. Slurp slurp.

I love the result – so fun and it really makes my hallway look so unique.

What do you think of the new additions?
