Moisturiser Criteria & Finding The One…

Despite being a skincare-obsessed, hoarder of cosmetics, I rarely find a moisturiser that I really love. I seem to have high moisturiser standards and nothing ever suits – that is, until I came across a rather delicious little day cream…

For reference, my skin is normal, slightly oily and occasionally prone to blemishes. I find that it’s often dehydrated, but most creams are too heavy and cause breakouts and excess oil, so I have quite the criteria to stick to when it comes to finding a moisturiser! It goes without saying that quite often, I just don’t have one – I will use face oil mixed with primer instead. Not ideal, to say the least.

I switched to natural skincare a little while back, but one brand I find really hard to give up is Kiehl’s – their products may not be packed with the most natural ingredients, but boy does my skin love their formulations!
The brand sent me a little package some time ago, and one of the products included was the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream (£24) – I thought I had tried this before, and I was on my mission to natural skincare, so I handed it over to Jordan, who loves a good moisturiser. It wasn’t until a few weeks later when he mentioned how good it was that I was interested. I had run out of morning moisturiser options when I decided to try the Ultra Facial Cream. My skin felt parched and I wanted something to slap on before my makeup, and I wasn’t really expecting much.

To my surprise, this was instantly soothing, completely drenching but without a slick, wet feeling on the skin. It’s not too thick or creamy, but it’s not a drying gel either – it sits somewhere in the middle, and it sinks in straight away, creating the perfect base for makeup. It’s not often I notice a difference as I apply a product, but the way this felt under my fingers and left my skin smooth and dewy really hit a note with me.
I kept up application, fighting at the sink with Jordan over ownership of the tub! I eventually picked out a nice Origins number for him, and I ended up finishing the original tub so I now have my own fresh tub to use!

I can’t imagine switching this out any time soon, it’s exactly what I look for in a moisturiser and it’s not too expensive for a day cream either. The silky finish and lovely quenching properties are exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Have you tried this?
