Livestock Restaurant & Bar | Food Review

Living in Quezon City, Philippines has its own perks. Aside from popular pubs and clubs, various restaurants have been sprouting within and around the area. As I recently moved here, I am still discovering places which can satisfy my picky palate.

Alas, I found one which is both unique and local. It is a specialty type of restaurant, so I could say that it has perfected the dishes that it serves. Without further ado, tour with me as I dine at Livestock Restaurant & Bar.

Livestock Restaurant & Bar is a Filipino restaurant which shows its passion over pork dishes. It is mostly famous for its melt-in-your-mouth crispy pata, among others.

AMBIANCE

The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. I went there for lunch and I liked that it has a spacious area. It has two floors with a mezzanine and could accommodate up to 200 people.

At night, the homey feel is transformed to a lively venue where family, friends, and colleagues can gather and have a party. Livestock is also known for its imported wine collection so people frequent the restaurant to drink and even dine al fresco.

ACCESSIBILITY

Livestock is located in a strategic street along Sgt Esguerra Street, Quezon City. It is not difficult to find especially if you know the main thoroughfares around QC, but if you are not then better use GPS or simply hail a cab.

SERVICE

The waiting staff were all friendly, approachable, and attentive. No room for rude waiter/ess!

MENU

Seafood Laksa

This is the only seafood dish in Livestock’s menu. It is spicy and the aroma makes it enticing. It is sweet and a bit sour, but it lacks strength. It may be Livestock’s version though.

Adobo Queso Pizza

Like the laksa, I didn’t expect this to be included in the menu. This thin pizza is topped with mozzarella, blue cheese and Philippine quesong puti, along with chicken and pork adobo flakes. Of course, cherry tomatoes, black olives, and arugula leaves add taste.

Spiced pork tail

This is made from marinated pig tail which was fried until golden and crunchy. I heard that this dish is loved by many of its patrons and I could agree. It’s delicious especially after dipping in its vinegar sauce. Even though it is crunchy, it is still braces friendly. Yay!

Livestock Cracking Pork Belly

I opened my mouth in delight as soon as I saw a waitress carrying a tray of this in our table. I was like, “Oh, looks sinfully delicious!”

This is, without a doubt, a very mouth-watering and tasty dish. Livestock serves a gorgeous amount of this wickedly delicious meat to satisfy any gastronomical craving. No wonder it is one of the crowd’s favorites!

To satisfy your belly, pork belly!

Side note: I could even hear the cracking sound as the person sitting beside me munched on this pork belly!

Melts-in-your-mouth Crispy Pata (Deep Fried Pork Knuckles)

This is something that you shouldn’t miss out when you visit Livestock. According to the restaurant, this is the star dish of the entire menu. The meat is both juicy and very tender – the entire piece can be sliced (or shredded) by only a popsicle stick!

It is indeed very soft and yummy as it bursts with flavour once eaten.

Pork Cheek Bourguignon

A tasty braised pork in red wine served with carrots and mushrooms.

Kangkong Sambal with Lechon

Finally, vegetables! This green dish is topped with fried lechon and chopped garlic for the omnivore diners.

Bacon Ice Cream

A simple dessert of French toast topped with vanilla ice cream and bacon sprinkles. Sweet, but still with pork! I like how this restaurant is so faithful to its name.

Ginger Tea

To rinse the guilt of consuming a lot of meat in a meal, Livestock offers complimentary ginger tea for everyone. I like how this one tastes good – not too strong!

VERDICT

Livestock Restaurant & Bar is a novel concept for those who crave pork, want to explore traditional Filipino food, or simply want to indulge. It has a lot of specialty dishes which will not disappoint anyone. The dining experience is also nice and will not burn a hole in one’s pocket. Shall I comeback, definitely!

TIP: Eat in moderation. Unless you want to evolve like this.
