Sonia Kashuk Beauty Gives Us The Best of Summer Color (Plus a $100 Target GiftCard Giveaway!)

Over the last two months, I’ve fallen in love with Target. Now I understand everyone else’s obsession. I mean, they have staples for your wardrobe, food for the pantry, home decor tidbits, and Starbucks. It gets no better. I’ve been going up every so often to snag some of the designer collaborations, which are all the rage on the ‘net. I always walk by the Sonia Kashuk makeup section because she has fashion-forward beauty products. She doesn’t do those corny collections that I tend to see with various budget beauty brands. Come on, did you see the Escape to Paradise face palette? It was SO good! And I reach for her eye shadow, powder and slanted liner brushes more than I realized. The shadow brush is flat enough that it covers most of my lid easily, since I have ample space. This go-round, Sonia Kashuk is bringing metallic-earth realness to her a collection with a few new eyeshadow quads, nail polishes, lipsticks and a bronzer and I received some of these products to try out. The bronzer looks a lot like MAC’s newer Mineralize Finishes but at a fraction of the cost. Voila! The Eye Quads are very textured and quite pigmented. This is the texture of shadows that I sometimes shy away from, as they tend to leave fallout. There are a couple of ways to go around this, however: Do your eye makeup first. That way, if you have any fallout, it can be wiped away easily. Apply the shadow to your brush, then spray with a makeup mist. The shadow “melts” a bit and won’t fall all over the place. Also, make sure to give these shadows something to stick to! I’m a fan of a good eye shadow primer, but many artists use a thin layer of foundation or concealer as a base. One thing that surprised me was how much I liked the chic design of the palettes! They are magnetic, so they snap open and close easily. I’ve broken a few of my other palettes trying to open those annoying little clasps. They are nice and compact too, which makes them makeup-bag friendly.
