all about daddy // the OneDay app

I’m great at documenting moments via photos on my phone. I’m even pretty great at getting out my DSLR and snapping a few photos. I keep them somewhat organized and get them printed and framed. What I’m not so great at is capturing video. I end up keeping oodles of random videos on my phone, never really knowing what to do with them. I have grandiose plans to compile them and edit them, but I’m here to say that it hasn’t happened yet.

I want to be better about capturing the cute sayings and giggles and smirks and expressions that photos simply cannot do. Not just the big days, but the small moments too. Enter: the OneDay app.

I love how easy it is now to create a meaningful video to keep or to even send as a special card to grandparents or friends. As Jones gets older, it’s a beautiful way to document new skills and achievements.

We decided to make a special Valentine’s Day video for daddy! the OneDay app has a myriad of categories and video prompts to choose from — even Valentine’s Day specific ones! (Have I mentioned that this app is completely free? Oh! it is! It’s available on iTunes and Google Play.) I loved all of the Valentine’s day videos, but Harlow was having difficulty understanding the questions — she is still confused about the box we are decorating for class tomorrow! I loved the “About Daddy” video and decided it was perfect for Andy from Harlow for the day.

It’s so easy to use:

1. Open the OneDay app and select a story from any of the categories — Babies/Toddlers, Family, Kids and Holidays are a few.
2. Choose a question or prompt to start with and record. You can re-record as many times as you want! Select another question and repeat until you’ve finished all the prompts for that video.
3. Save and create! OneDay will stitch together the video for you! You can share it via email or text message — it creates a link to view the video – or save to your camera roll!

and that’s it! It’s so easy and so fun. I’ve been wanting to do interview videos with Harlow, but this app even helps me think of questions to ask!
