Shiny Skin Be Gone? New From Benefit: The Porefessional License To Blot

Long-lasting, non-shiny makeup can be a tricky thing to master, but Benefit are making it their mission to ensure it's a very real possibility. Following the launch of the best selling primer in the UK and the follow-up 'Zero Shine' powder, The Porefessional franchise is expanding even further with the introduction of a new innovative product that's designed to slip into your bag. The Porefessional 'License To Blot' is an oil-blotting stick that features 'tiny invisible blotting spheres' to mattify shine and remove oiliness instantly; according to Benefit, the result stays put for up to six hours, targeting shiny t-zones to help your makeup look refreshed when you're on the go. After this has been teased across social media channels for the last couple of months (and became the most requested product from my Periscope audience!) it's no doubt there's a huge amount of anticipation surrounding it's launch in a couple of weeks. So how does it actually stand up?

The specially designed triangular tip targets shiny zones for precision when you need it most - it easily coats the sides of your nose, forehead and chin without overloading skin with product. The texture is quite lightweight and definitely mattifying, removing all visible shininess instantaneously for a much more even result - however, you can feel it sitting on the surface of skin. Although it is pretty invisible, it's not completely undetectable; if you're not one for heavy makeup then you definitely won't be a fan of this.

I've found it's best applied mid-afternoon when your makeup starts to move about, helping to mattify shiny areas while working to 're-set' makeup. A little dabbing with your index finger helps to delicately buff the product into skin and mix it with makeup for a more flawless finish; as it does tend to lift away a little of my base, it is important to 're-work' your foundation into place. If you're not a fan of powder, or the often cakey finish of re-applying translucent powder throughout the day isn't your thing, then 'License To Blot' definitely provides a good alternative. It takes some getting used to (you can also apply it under foundation to those areas you know will get a little oily come mid-afternoon,) but it's definitely innovative and does the job.

Although the 'six hour' claim is a little overzealous, 'License To Blot' does provide a couple of hours relief and is a great handbag product to take you from day to night with ease. It's definitely not going to be for everybody and isn't the kind of thing you'll probably reach for daily, but it's a good temporary problem solver that will no doubt be incredibly popular with the oily t-zoned among us. At £15.50 it offers quite good value for a huge stick of product (especially compared to the 'Zero Shine' price point of £23.50 which is a bit crazy considering the small amount of powder actually provided,) and ensures it's a justifiable purchase rather than an indulgent one. It's not the most exciting thing to hit Benefit stores this year, but it's certainly interesting.
