Two Great Affordable Alternatives To Benefit's 'Roller Lash' Mascara

Let me start by saying how much I adore, love, heart with a capital 'h' the latest mascara launch from Benefit. Roller Lash was released amongst the usual media hype and speculation as to whether something so heralded as the 'best thing in makeup' could really be such, but it's actually a blooming great mascara. (Read my original review here.) It helps to lift lashes, separate and really elongate the usual stumpiness that is my lash line - all winning ingredients for me. However, if you just can't justify spending £19.50 on a tube of mascara, then I've found two great alternatives that are much more friendly on the purse strings yet provide pretty much the same result. Bonus...

1. Maybelline Lash Sensational Multiplying Mascara (£7.99)
Before I picked this up in Boots out of pure curiosity, I hadn't tried a Maybelline mascara in years. I associated them with clumpy lashes, scratchy brushes and ineffective formulas, but this has been an incredibly pleasant surprise. The brush captures even the tiniest of lashes while adding volume, for a 'layered' multiplied lash look; it's so easy to use and the curved edge really ensures you get close to the lash line. I can create a fab flutter in seconds, really widening the look of my eye and ensuring a powerful flutter without looking 'too done'. This has been heralded as a great mascara by many in recent weeks and it's clear to see why - it provides pretty much the same result as Roller Lash for a third of the price.

2. 2True FlashEyes Lash Lengthening Mascara (£2.99)
I wouldn't normally opt for something so 'cheap and cheerful', but after this landed on my doorstep and was promised to be a must-have, I gave it a whirl. The result is a lifted, lengthened, separated and volumised lashline and a jet black finish; the wand is slightly larger at the end with tiny bristles, helping to capture every single lash and build up the product without clumping. I'm incredibly impressed with such an affordable product, opting for this when I'm pottering around at home or catching up with mates - it means my lashes not only look fab, but I can save the expensive stuff for Saturday night! The only downside it that it's really not at all waterproof (be careful not to wear it while watching a soppy movie, as you *will* end up looking like a panda,) and it takes a little extra effort to remove from lashes at the end of the day... But for £2.99 I can't complain!

Have you tried the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, or any of these alternatives?
I'd love to know your thoughts and how you got on...
