Sundays on Djurgården

SUNDAYS ON DJURGÅRDEN. If you come to Stockholm and have a Sunday off and want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the city you should head over to Djurgården. This used to be a private island for the royals in Stockholm. The king himself accepted the people on to the island that he wanted to be there. This is not the case anymore but to own a villa on Djurgården is one of the most luxurious areas in the city. The combination of being in total nature but still with walking distance from the city is what people love.

Johan and I live just a couple of minutes away from Djurgården so we usually spend a lot of time during the weekends here, long walks by the water followed by a long and delicious brunch is a classic concept we love doing on Sundays. I want to share 5 of my favourite places on Djurgården that you most definitely shouldn’t miss if you are in town.

SUNDAYS ON DJURGÅRDEN.

Oaxen slip. This is my favourite restaurant on Djurgården, you need to come here for brunch. Scandinavian bistro at its best!

Location: Beckholmsvägen 26, Stockholm

Rosendals Trädgård. This is the perfect place for a afternoon excursion on a Sunday. They have a café with lots of pastry and sweets, a cute flower shop, they also have their own little bakery and store where you can buy sweet things for the kitchen.

Location: Rosendalsterrassen 12, Stockholm

Villa Godthem. This is one of my favourite places on Djurgården. I love the interior design, it feels like you are in somebody’s house. They serve brunch here or perhaps you just want to have a coffee and pastry by the open fire? They do that too.

Location: Rosendalsvägen 9, Stockholm

Ulla Winbladh. Here you will enjoy Swedish cuisine, this is a more upscale restaurant so the prices match accordingly.

Location: Rosendalsvägen 8, Stockholm

Helin Voltaire. If you want to warm up with a hot cocoa and a cinnamon bun or another sweet dessert during a walk on Djurgården this is the place to go.

Location: Rosendalsvägen 14, Stockholm
