CAMPAIGN | 2nd Time Lucky

As you may or may not be aware I have been feeling a little 'down in the dumps' this past week or so despite my best efforts to perk up, so news of this campaign being run by the people over at Ocean Finance couldn't have come any better timed!
This campaign is all about second chances and going from school drop-out (I was on target for good grades but due to severe anxiety had to leave at the precious age of only 15) to taking on a full time degree, I feel I know the theme pretty well!
Taking into consideration that my educational needs are currently being pretty well met (albeit at a price), I feel through my own hard work and determination I'll get there in the end. I even went and took a GCSE at the age of 24 for the sake of it rather than out of any necessity and I could finally throw around a grade A with great pride (much to the disappointment of everyone who ever mocked me for dropping out of school qualification-less) Hurrah!
SO that having been said, without wanting to come across all 'Gap Ya' on you, I haven't yet had much opportunity to get my feet out across the water yet and that is something I'd like to slowly but steadily change.
Now I'm sure we can all recall the much anticipated year 7 school trip to France, it is almost a universally british tradition after all. Armed with your French teacher's promise of culture and (more importantly) an opportunity to practise the language we'd spent all year learning in class, the reality couldn't have been any different even if it had tried! I hadn't imagined that myself and my peers would be left to our own devices for a day in the middle of Calais (not an Eiffel Tower or Louvre in sight!) as every teacher hit the ground running in search of as much caffeine as they could possibly consume just to get through the trauma of it all. I don't think I even got to mutter a single word of French the whole day and wasn't taught to appreciate a baguette beyond its obvious likeness to a sword (and the baguette duals did ensue!)
I would very much like to be 2ND TIME LUCKY in my attempt to visit France and can't think of a better place to start than the capital of Paris. Fully immersing myself into the Parisian lifestyle (for a long weekend, oui?), I'd wake up in a little Paris studio and gorge myself silly on my favourite little Madeleine cakes before prancing along every pavement that'll have me. And who knows, maybe this time I'll get to actually practise my school-girl French too!
