100 Percent Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip & Cheek Tint

While recently browsing our local health food store, Mana Foods, I was excited to find they've started stocking items from 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented makeup line. 100% Pure is cruelty-free and many of their products are vegan, but not all. Some 100% Pure products do contain beeswax and/or honey.
As a new vegan, I've found eating a plant-based whole-food vegan diet is relatively easy, but it's the beeswax and honey in so many products that catch me off guard. So I consider myself to be in a sort of "vegan boot camp" transition period right now as I'm learning.
So what about 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip & Cheek Tints? I was so excited with the beautiful colors and the packaging said 100% vegan. I purchased Cocoa Berry, a warm peachy sun-kissed hue.
After about a week of using it, I was randomly picking at the bottom label, one of those "peel here for ingredients" that just doesn't want to peel and it feels more like you're trying to split an atom, with your finger nails... yes those labels. When I finally got the atom-thin label layers separated, I was surprised to read it contains beeswax. I emailed 100% Pure to inquire and they confirmed the "100% vegan" on the label was a misprint. Bummer, I was hoping "beeswax" was the misprint.
So that's my "shopping vegan" story for you this week. But that's not all, in that same purchase, I had also bought 100% Pure's Black Tea Pigmented Mascara, and just today realized it also contains beeswax. But we'll talk more about that in another post.

Although it's not vegan, it's still a fantastic all natural beauty product from a cruelty-free, leaping bunny certified company. And I'm happy to share it on my blog for anyone who is transitioning to cruelty-free products.

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip & Cheek Tint in Cocoa Berry is a muted, warm, peachy, sun-kissed hue. This color is actually named "Shimmery Cocoa Berry" but I don't detect any real visible shimmer when applied to the skin.

The formula is a satiny smooth cream, non-sticky, non-greasy and lasts on me for most of the day as blush, with minimal fading, even in the heat and humidity. On the lips, nothing lasts on me for more than a few hours, because of my Invisalign. I have to brush after every meal, so that's normal wear time for all my lips products these days.

I purchased this mostly to use as a cheek tint but it feels great on the lips too, it applies smooth and evenly, with a satin finish. On the lips, the color is a very pretty nude peach.

Overall this is a top-notch multi-tasking product, made with high quality ingredients. So if you're not vegan but are transitioning to healthy, all natural makeup and cruelty-free brands, this is a stunning product to have in your collection.

As far as the misprint goes, it was a bummer, but hey, things happen. 100% Pure was very apologetic and mentioned they had made stickers to say "Vegetarian" to cover up the "Vegan" misprint but some items had mistakenly been shipped out to some stores before being relabeled. They even offered to refund me but I said no worries :). I figure since I already have it and don't want it to go to waste, I'm ok just using it up until it's gone and I'll continue my search for a vegan version. I also mentioned to them, it would be so amazing, if they ever decided to formulate a vegan version of their lip and cheek tints because they really are wonderful!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Love you guys!
xo, Christine
