Bluestone

We were lucky enough to spend the week at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire last week – Vega’s first holibobs!

After a long cold winter, and a newborn, we were really excited for a road trip and a week away! It’s about a three and a half hour drive from where we live in North Wales, we broke the drive up with a quick stop in Aberystwyth so it wasn’t too bad, and thankfully Vega slept most of the way! Pembrokeshire is such a beautiful area, and we really lucked out with mild, sunny weather.

We stayed in a Grassholm Lodge that had four bedrooms, an ensuite as well as two other bathrooms. To be honest, the house was that nice I’d have been happy to not leave it all week! It had everything we needed, was clean and warm and so spacious. The kitchen is fully stocked with plenty of cutlery, utensils, cpots and pans and even a DISHWASHER! {That was the best bit for me!!}The girls had a great time playing hide and seek!

The big kiddos love the Treehouse playground in the Village, it kept them busy for hours on end! The Village has most things you need, a pub, bakery, grocery shop and toy shop. The only thing we found was that the grocery shop wasn’t very big, but had essentials, and we picked up some extras in Tenby.

The girls loved swimming, though I only went once, as Vega fell asleep the first time two minutes after entering the pool, and then had a bit of a cold, so I let G take the girls swimming and enjoyed some quiet time in the house with the baby! The pool is great, though it’s a shame it shuts early as we like to be able to swim in the evenings too. But the kiddos had fun in the outdoor pool area as well as on the slides – and the wave machine was a big hit!

Thursday we spent the afternoon in the playbarn, the big kids had fun climbing and sliding and running around, Papa and I snuck in a game of mini golf while the baby slept and drank coffee and ate cakes! My perfect kind of afternoon!

We had an amazing week, enjoying the sunshine and the break from the old routine. Bluestone is a great base for trips out – we went to Tenby and to Folly Farm. We did find that the evenings were a bit quiet – with bigger kids, it’s nice to have some evening entertainment, but really it’s a fabulous place for a holiday! Kiki especially didn’t want to come home!

We’d definitely recommend a holiday to Bluestone, and are planning another stay there in the future!

Miss Baya was worn out from too much fun!

While the house has a highchair and travel cot provided, we took our own travel cot with us. Weirdly enough, this is the first travel cot we’ve ever owned! Vega certainly liked he, he slept great whilst we were away. We have the BabyMoov Curve Dream, and we’re really impressed. It’s easy to put up/down and packs away nice and compact for travelling. I love that it has a booster, so for little babies you can have the sleeping position a little higher up. It’s a really stable cot, feels nice and secure and also has a changing mat that clips onto the top too.

We were guests of Bluestone, but all thoughts are our own :)
