Know the Reasons Why People Want to Get Out of a Timeshare

Timeshare exits are just as common as timeshare purchases. Many buyers eventually find themselves wanting out of their contract the minute they realize that their timeshare is costing them more than it is worth. “Get out of my timeshare” — that’s what many people want, so you can certainly not alone. While timeshares remain very popular, more and more buyers are discovering that it is not the best form of “investment” for them and that it’s not an investment. Here are some of the most common reasons why people typically want to get out of a timeshare:

• High maintenance fees – It’s never fun to pay maintenance fees, especially on something you rarely get to use or get much use out of. The thing about timeshare fees is that you have to pay them even when you don’t use the property regularly. Many times, the amount also increases yearly. This can be a huge burden, especially if you don’t get plenty of use out of the timeshare. Worse, your credit rating can plummet if you neglect to pay fees on time.

• Too restricting – Going on a holiday in the same resort every year might sound appealing until you do it. Many timeshare holders start to feel obliged to visit the same places repeatedly, and that can quickly get boring.

• Timeshare doesn’t live up to their expectations – Let’s face it. Most timeshares are disappointing. The properties are not always well-maintained, the buffets are generic, and can be very hard to book rooms on the dates you prefer. Most timeshare companies are not upfront about the terms and conditions of the contract, which often leads to all kinds of unpleasant surprises for the timeshare holder.

Whatever your reason for searching for ways to “get out of my timeshare” your best option will always be to consult a lawyer. Talk to an attorney that specializes in consumer protection laws.
