Planning the Perfect Home Office

The ability to have a home office is amazing. A room, in your home, completely dedicated to you. A place where you can work in absolute comfort. A place where you can escape from the rest of your home if you need to do so. Perfect for a freelancer, or even a busy person who likes to pull a bit of overtime on occasion. Of course, planning your room is going to be easier said than done.

Whether you are planning to actually do work in your home office, or spend time browsing Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, YouPorn, or some other best sites out there in the adult entertainment or social media world, then you are going to want to do it in ‘style’, and having the perfect home office is a great place to start, and these tips are going to be perfect for helping you!

The Desk

Your desk is always going to be the focal point of your home office. This is where you will spend a lot of your time. Everybody has their own unique ‘wants’ when it comes to their desk, and it is this which is going to set the ‘tone’ for the rest of the room. Choose a style that gels with you.

Make sure you choose something functional too. For example; a desktop computer will require a wildly different set-up to a laptop. There will need to be more space, for starters!

Chair

This is arguably your most important purchase. Don’t skimp on the cost of your chair, because you will end up with something that causes you a ton of back pain. Since you are going to be sitting on these chairs for hours and hours a day, then check out a few chairs ‘in store’. Have a sit on a few of them. This will allow you to work out what is good and what isn’t. Only choose a chair you are 100% sure you will be comfortable sitting on.

The Room Layout

The room layout will be dependent on how you plan to use it. For example; if you are the only one who is ever going to be working in that office, then you will not need as much space to get up and walk around.

If you have clients coming into your office, then you will need to have places where they can sit. Some people may even have other workers come in and work with them on occasion. You will need somewhere for them to do their work too, or maybe get a small table in there where you can ‘meet’. Again, this is all down to personal preference.

Decorations

Think long and hard about the decorations that are going into that room. You really don’t want blank walls. People who have blank walls are not going to have fun being in their office. Choose some decent art work. Study after study has shown that art is able to cheer people up. Since work is never fun at the best of times, you are probably going to want to have a smile on your face as much as possible!

Big mistakes you can make

There are plenty of ‘big’ mistakes you can make when you are planning your home office. This includes:

- Having ‘entertainment’ items in the room. They will distract you.

- Not enough storage space

- Wires draped everywhere

The last is particularly important, particularly if you are having clients over to your home office. Wires just look repulsive to people. Thankfully, there are plenty of ‘cable management’ solutions that you can buy.
