Becoming a Beauty Blogger

Who knew that I would actually have a make-up video on YouTube? I really didn't think that I could film a look that would even get a few views. I actually got my first "like" and words of encouragement on my first how-to make-up video. I chose to emulate a look from one of my favorite beauty gurus.

The make-up look used cosmetics that I already owned (but hadn't used too much). I just set everything up, all the tools that I've seen my beauty gurus use. I pitched up my smartphone and started filming. One thing that didn't make the video, I tried a new trick, putting powder on before foundation. The technique is supposed to keep your face from getting oily. The technique didn't work out for me at all, because when I applied my foundation after my banana powder, the foundation became a clumpy mess. It was terrible. I actually had to wash my face and start again from scratch.

I then filmed my video straight through. I was watching a video to guide me through, so when I went to edit I had a lot of shots to edit out, because I wasn't looking at my camera. It would be difficult for my viewers to watch my video if they can't see what I'm doing! I also realized that even after I edited my video that it's a bit longer than I'd like for it to be. I'm sure that as I make more videos, they will become shorter, and hopefully the editing process will go faster.

I'm optimistic that I'll post additional beauty blogs. I'm excited about the future.
