How do I resolve my Gmail not working issues?

Gmail is an email client made by Google, a tech company based out of the United States of America. This email client is being used by over a billion users around the world on various platforms like Android and iOS. The app is incorporated with many features such as an easy to format email body editor, labeling the emails in the inbox, filtering out spam emails, snoozing email received for the later reminder, timely notification on receiving of new email.

The app somehow faces an issue when it stops sending the notification to the user on receiving a new mail. Due to this, a user might miss some important emails at work. One can follow some basic steps to fix this issue on their device.

1. Open the Gmail app from the Android launcher.

2. Tap on the hamburger menu item on the top left corner. (seems like 3 bars)

3. Go to settings from the menu drawer and you'll see accounts being used in the Gmail notifications not working.

4. Select the account for which you want to fix this issue. and go to the notifications section on the new page that opened up.

5. Tap "All" on the new screen and go back.

6. Go to the "Inbox notifications" section and check the two checkboxes of "Label notifications" and "Notify for every message

These are the settings that you've to do in the app itself in order to fix this issue. These steps will be the same for both android and iOS.

In android devices, the app might have been optimized for better battery life and hence the user might not be able to receive the notification. To fix this, you can simply go to the battery settings and go to the "battery optimization" and remove Gmail from the list. Also make sure that all the notification settings are enabled in the app information page, which can be found out by going to the Apps section in the settings and clicking on notifications, and switching it ON.
