Changes Brought By Google’s Latest Mobile Update

The recent announcement by Google will be bringing a major change in the algorithm of search rankings and SEO. Till the month of July 2018, it will keep a tab in the site speed and then penalise the slower sites by putting them on the Google results list. This has been in existence since the year 2010 for the desktop and it has finally been implemented on the platform of mobiles.

Let us look at the changes and how it will affect the world of online marketing:

• Users have always been the primary important factor for Google. Changes in key algorithms have been one of the primary importance to Google in a bid to improve the experience of the user. The previous changes in the algorithm were mainly focused on enhancing the relevance, but with this new update, it aims at improving its browsing scenario.

• Google will greatly penalise sites that do not load properly, according to the Google standard for these devices. So basically it tries to bring forth the fact that if you do not optimise your site accordingly, you will be losing your visitors. This change is basically an act of corporal punishment. Now, Google has not made a specific tool keeping this purpose in mind. So how would a website owner know that they are penalised? What they can do is go to “Test My Site” on Google and check their present performance.

• One way to boost up your ranking on the platform of digital marketing is by opting for relevant keywords. This will make up about five percent of the rankings. The rest ninety five are methods that are off-page, like, credible websites being linked to the page. Recommendations from other trusted and highly visited websites also tend to improve the results on a large scale.

• A Google backed project named Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP is a Google-backed project which is designed so that the pages get loaded more quickly on the mobile devices. One can use this as a potential way to improve the page speed dramatically. It also makes the page load instantly. That is a whole lot of welcome and necessary changes that one could implement on their websites. Also, it is necessary to mention in this context that Google has mentioned that it will be using the AMP speed to determine the speed of the on-page rankings. It will no more be using the canonical URLs.
