Training for a Half Marathon for a non-runner

As mentioned, in my last post I have just signed up for my first Half Marathon taking place on the 9th July. The furthest I have run is 10k...

I go through phases of running regularly and rarely are they long runs. I prefer my workouts to be quick and effective so normally opt for HIIT such as sprints.

But I want to challenge myself and push my body and I loved the rush I felt when I completed my first 10k.

I started my training last week but then had my birthday and went to Spain for a few days. Although I had all the best intentions of still running whilst abroad (even squeezing in my trainers and workout gear with only carry-on luggage), the food and copious amounts of alcohol just didn't make that happen.

I'm using the Nike Running App so that I can train properly and it helps me with different types of running as well such as tempo or stamina so I will hopefully be at my best on the day.

I had some knee problems before my run last year so I'm also going to do lots of foam rolling, stretching and yoga.

I will keep updating my progress just in case anyone is thinking of doing their own half or training for one as well!

Does anyone have any tips for running their first Half? Gratefully appreciated x
