The Major Updates on New Android App Development Guidelines as Announced by Google

In December 2017, Google has announced some revolutionary updates for Android platform on its official blog. According to that blog Google Play store rolls out three heads-ups keeping security and performance improvement drive in the present as well as for coming years. Those heads-ups are:

· Targeted Late 2018 for API Level Requirements

· Targeted 2019 for 64-bit Architecture Requirements

· Targeted Early 2018 for Security Meta Requirements

The details of these upcoming changes in security and performance front have given in my blog “Google Guidelines for Android Developers for 2018-19 & beyond” and here just giving you an outline of it.

Google Play store has implemented some changes for API requirements and pushed developers to implement changes in existing as well as upcoming apps in the market where security of private data and transactions assured at the root level. Besides these, it has placed a cap on the overuse of background processes by imposing an automatic shutdown of the background activities after a set lapse of the period.

Android has taken flexible approaches to the implementation of the changes to mitigate the fragmentation issues upfront. Moreover, it has given enough time to developers to correct the existing apps and implement changes in upcoming new app developments.

The next heads-up is the introduction of 64-bits architecture due to increased use of 64-bit systems. Therefore, Android platform has made it compulsory to ship 64-bit libraries along with 32-bits in all apps to support the latest 64-bit architecture.

Finally, the Android platform focuses on security and performance aspects by inducing some required Metadata in the top of APK of each app. These Meta act as official labels and help in identification or authentication processes.

So, if you are looking to hire Android developers, add need to do anything two changes in your checklist to ensure your better and more profitable application remains relevant for a long time to come.
