iPhone XR dominated Apple sales in the first half of 2019

These days, the prices of our smartphones are getting more and more expensive to the point where mid-range devices are starting to look like pretty good alternatives.

That may be why Apple's iPhone XR is doing so well, because even though it's starting at $749, it's not exactly cheap, it's still a few hundred dollars cheaper than the iPhone XS and XS Max models.

It's also not surprising to find that the iPhone XR dominated phone shipments in the first half of 2019, where according to analysts at IHS Market, they discovered that for the first half of the year, the iPhone XR was actually sold at 26.9 million units. Second in line is the Samsung Galaxy A10, which accounted for only half of the iPhone XR's sales, at 13.4 million units. In terms of premium iPhones, the iPhone XS Max reached only 9.6 million units, placing it in ninth place.

This is actually not the first time we are hearing about the prevalence of the iPhone XR. Previously, it was reported that these devices accounted for 39% of iPhone sales in December 2018.

These new digits seem to confirm that the XR is proving more successful than the premium iPhones. Apple is expected to update the iPhone XR today where it can come with improved RAM and cameras.
