Let Us Do Your Hair. The Salon Project Manhattan, New York

There’s something about New York that attracts me for a visit and looking like a New Yorker should. Would looking fresh à la Andy Sachs will be over the top?

So I looked out for any hair salons available right here in Manhattan, and The Salon Project comes up in my search. If you are looking for a salon in Manhattan you are going to want to work with a place with world-class stylists.

Located at Brookfield Place in Manhattan, where their flagship salon is, so I decided to check it out. Cross-referencing with the time I’m available and bam; I called the front desk to set up an appointment, Saturday noon.

The Idea Behind The Project Salon

The reason why I chose the salon instead of others because of the idea behind it: to quote from the salon owner/founder Joel Warren from the New York Post; “It’s not just another hair salon. It is a new concept, like taking Apple, Sephora and a high-end salon and mixing them all together.”

Apple and Sephora? Now I’m curious how it’ll look like, especially for my hair.

Joel Warren, a celebrity stylist of Warren-Tricomi Salon fame and been in the field for 20 years, created The Salon Project with the idea of combining stylists, curated hair and beauty products, with high tech for complete customer experience.

Unlike the usual treatment that you get from most beauty salons, you’ll get your own stylist that will assist and oversee the whole process, check in check out.

Fast Forward To The Day

I’ll admit, I get nervous when I stepped into the salon. Going from the usual salon to an upscale can make you star struck (and yes, the place was simply beautiful, soothing, perfect combination of black, white, and gold, and fabulously classy; just like a salon should be) but the staffs are helpful and keen to assist you in getting pampered.

And the first thing that I get it there is no front desk, instead, a concierge that will assist you with the help of their iPads and direct me to any one of the stylists that are available (this is for the first timers to the salon, I suppose). So I get Karen, and we started our first step with her getting to know what my hair needs, advising me along the way.

I’m opting to get my hair cut and treated (split ends and excess hair fall), and Karen explained what each product does to get the results I want (need, more like). And I kid you not; the products are not something that you’d see on the shelves in the supermarket - these are exclusive, high-end items fit for a queen.

Consult, consult, consult

I do ask a lot of questions for them (my stylist, and other staff involved in the process) asking everything during the whole treatment that I can think of (but honestly, it’s just to hide out my nervousness) and definitely glad the team helpfully answers in a detailed manner for me to know what’s going on.

Trust me; you don’t want to put your life (or hair) at the hands of people that are not for the job. Working with top stylists and beauty experts eliminates all the worries in a snap.

The result is stunning, and I look refreshed and perk up all around. The whole process took about an hour and, but it didn’t feel tedious at all. In fact, I know a lot more how to take care of my hair the proper way with a few of hair care products recommended by Karen, and she set up another appointment next month for touch ups and treatment if needed.

At this time of writing, the salon offers services in hair, makeup, skincare and men's so I’m assuming this covers all the basics that you need to look (and feel) good. The services are similar to the one in Long Island, but of course, if you need a particular beauty service/treatment, you can just call up ahead to see which location offers the service better for your needs.

In short, the salon project is definitely where you want to go if you want to get pampered with world-class stylists.

Uber your way to the salon: Brookfield Place, 225 Liberty Street, New York, and call them at (347) 658-5614 to book an appointment (open from 10 am the rest of the week, closed on Sundays).
