Recap: Dermelect for NYFW Cynthia Rowley Fall 2014 Presentation

Hi guys! This post should've been up last week in all honesty but, I think you guys are used to me posting things a little late by now!
A little back story on how I was able to go backstage at NYFW...

As you some of you guys may know, I had the chance to work with Dermelect in the past; I actually create the swatches of their nail polish line for their website, here! On February 5th I got an invitation the shows Dermelect was creating nails for. The first show was on the 8th so there was no way I thought I'd even be able to attend. As if the urgency to get up there wasn't enough to dissuade me from even thinking about going, the cost of the flight up and arranging where I'd stay definitely had me thinking NYFW was absolutely not a possibility for me (at least this year!) I ended up calling my dad just to tell him about it because to me, just being invited was exciting in itself! He told me how awesome that was and that it was basically an opportunity I couldn't miss and he would make a way for me to go. At that point my belly was already full of butterflies because even the thought of going had me both nervous and of course, ecstatic.
Skip forward to slightly anxious plan making, I had a flight booked for New Jersey that Friday (7th), a place to stay with my awesome family up north (whom I hadn't seen in years!), and crazy jitters and nerves because I had no idea what to expect. And then skipping forward a bit more, I'm in New York at the first show. Although I knew backstage would be crazy because everyone has a job and they need to get it done and get out all while being in extremely close quarters, I still didn't have a good idea of what it would be like. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to talk to many people because everyone is (of course) so busy backstage but just getting to see how everything works was so interesting and so much fun. Everyone was on top of each other just doing their thing and making the models even more gorgeous and I was wedged in between everyone trying to get good pictures even with the dark lighting (it was difficult!). All in all,
it was such an incredible experience. Seeing the makeup artists, hairstylists, and nail artists at work was so neat and it's an opportunity I can't believe I was even offered.

I do have lots of pictures (taken by both me and a professional photographer with Dermelect) from the Cynthia Rowley Fall 2014 Presentation that I'm so excited to share with you guys! The makeup and hair were beautiful for the show but the nails especially were. Check out what Dermelect has to say about the nail art created exclusively for the presentation:

"Rowley’s Fall ‘14 collection was inspired by ‘moonbows’, bold but dark colors of the rainbow – a reflection on the romanticism of her sporty chic line and retro influence from the 1970s. Elle, Dermelect’s Color Curator, took Cynthia’s vision and created her version of the moonbow. “Representing a rainbow of darker shades not using any primary colors, we layered two shades from the same color family on each nail to achieve the perfect ‘moonbow’,”says Elle.
Elle used twelve lacquers to create the look, five from Dermelect’s current collection and seven that may reach the brand’s Fall 2014 lacquer collection. Applying the polish side by side on each nail, Elle began with red (using Ferosh-firebranded oxblood and Red-iculous-a classic red Chinese crème), followed by orange (a bright red/orange and a rusted orange), yellow (sunshine yellow and mustard), green (kelly and pine), blue (She-She-a luxe take on teal and Phenom-egyptian blue), and indigo (jeweled purple and Swagger-autumn royal plum)."

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this!! Be sure to check out Dermelect's line of anti-aging nail polish and nail care line, here!
