The bridal cape trend is back in this 70s inspired Joshua Tree elopement editorial

Orange, pink, and rust color palettes are having their moment right now, and can anyone think of a better way to make them pop than with a 70s inspired elopement in the desert? Toronto-based photog Robin Sassi and our guide member Carly Rae Weddings teamed up to bring this retro vignette to life, complete with tons of rad graphic details and our new-again, fave bridal trend: the cape wedding dress. Take a peek!

Paper lovers, are you dying over these paper pretties by Champagne Press?

It’s amazing how beautifully Thistle & Oak Floral Co. was able to incorporate their color palette in this bridal bouquet. Swoon!

Their bride’s first look was an amazing Amanda James jumpsuit.

We’ve even got some srsly good groom’s fashion inspo here!

The ceremony look is also by Amanda James Design—featuring the Isabelle cape and Mila gown together.

From the Carly Rae Weddings team… Joshua Tree and the surrounding high desert community has a very chill, retro vibe and we wanted to embrace that while bringing in some modern flair. I think it all started when I saw a new linen in La Tavola‘s spring/summer 2019 line. The Anna in Butternut reminded me of my grandmother’s wallpapered kitchen, with the hues of a Joshua Tree desert sunset.

Fun fact: it actually started SNOWING during their shoot. Crazy times.

I think it’s possible to have a wedding that evokes a couple’s personal style and quirks but still feels timeless when you look back at photos years later. Embracing your style is what makes you, YOU! With this shoot we hope to highlight the fun a couple can have while still capturing the beauty and romance of a wedding.

Love that. Learn more about Carly Rae Weddings in our vendor guide. And thanks to all the talents below for these 70s elopement ideas!
